Default Re: Upcoming product update

Prompted on screen when opening Money 05 this morning, I've downloaded the
update offered and allowed it to install. However throughout that process
there was no indication what was being updated and why.
Is this the update being discussed under this thread?
How can I find out what it actually did?

It would be nice if Microsoft provided a brief description of the update
under offer before agreeing to install it...wouldn't it?

They probably don't want to screw around with the dialog boxes as a
mid-cycle patch.

Yes! I want this back too! It's one of the things I miss about 2k4 an
previous versions, and hate about 2k5. But why does it have to be a registry
fix? Couldn't the update make it an option in the program, like it should be?

Follow up.

So far for me, the update seems to have resolved the major problems I was
having. Thank you again. Over the years, I have become dependent on this
product.

Thanks! I've had to restore from backup because Money gets in a
crashing loop several times since upgrading. Hopefully the update
(which is downloading into M05 as I type) fixes it.

My big wonder if it's gong to solve the issue with downloads being formatted
wrong from bank updates, you know..the yodlee issue, or whatever the4
reason. That's one of the main reasons I've not purchased 2005 yet, I like
the automatic updates, but they don't work as they duplicate and format
deposits as withdrawals

I think Microsoft defines those as pressing opportunities, not pressing
problems.

As Microsoft defines "pressing problems" it might. There are other issues
with the basic M05 objective (ad delivery engine) and where Microsoft wants
to go with the product (subscription based web service for passive users).
This update is unlikely to change any of that.

Thanks Russ. I look forward to getting the fix. It's nice to see that the
newsgroups are being paid attention to.

[Reformatting for legibility]

In the next couple of days, we'll be releasing a significant product update
for Money 2005. This update addresses many issues you have reported to us
over the past couple of months.

I'd like to thank the newsgroup users for certain things during this period:

A. We really appreciate the feedback we get from this newsgroup.
Unfortunately, we can't always respond directly to it, but this is a major
source of information (along with Product Support reports and Watson logs)
that we have used to shape this update.

B. I'd like to call out the MVPs for doing a great job of explaining
issues and reporting solutions in the past few weeks.

C. And thanks to the rest of the newsgroup posters that have lent a
helping hand. I'm impressed again with the quality of the advice that can be
found here for both beginning and expert Money users. And the FAQs are great
resources that represent a lot of well-appreciated work.

At a highest level we have updates for the following areas:

A. Issues with account balances and duplicate accounts, especially for
users who have upgraded from a previous version of Money to Money '05

B. Restoring from backups

C. MSN Money synchronization / "access your data from any computer"
issues (which also supports Yodlee account aggregation)

D. Watson reports

E. Portfolio Manager (Total Return calculations, subtotal issues, issues
with not displaying the "Name" column)

F. Various OFX driver/connectivity issues

While we do collect feedback from a variety of sources, it is almost
exclusively the result of newsgroup feedback (with support from our beta
users) that we have re-enabled the double category dropdowns. We will now
have a registry key to enable this described on the Product support site,
and I'll relay it to this newsgroup.

Thank you, again. Please continue to provide feedback, add comments, and
support each other in this group, and we'll keep listening. I'll have some
follow up posts during the next couple of days.
