Dick is correct. You need to set your paycheck up to "transfer in" the
amount of your paycheck 401k contribution. On your payday, Money will throw
that portion of your check into the 401(k)'s "Contributions" portion. Once
you download or manually update your account to "buy" from the
"contributions" account, your 401 will be balanced and your contribuitions
account will sit at zero until your next paycheck. It was confusing for me
at first, too. It took a lot of patience to get this set-up when I did it a
year ago.

an "account update" in that account? I forget, have you entered these things
before and they've worked and just this one isn't working or are you just

from? If you just enter a transaction--for the sake of the test, delete it
afterwards--in your checking account register transferring $100 to the 401k

Assuming your answers to the above are as expected, then you have one of a
couple of possibilities. The first possibility is that the transfer isn't
going where you think it is. This could be because of similar account names
or who knows what. One way to find this, potentially, is to go do a
Tools|Find in all accounts for the date of the paycheck and the amount of
the transfer. I *think* (don't have a machine handy to try a testcase) this
should find both halves of the transfer. Another possibility is some manner
of file corruption. In particular, there are corruptions that manifest
themselves with transactions being in the database and just not being
visible for some reason. If all of the above didn't resolve anything, I'd
consider just entering another copy of the transaction--maybe forcing myself
to retype the whole thing just to eliminate the possibility that the
scheduled item is somehow munged or the "autocompleted" copy is somehow not
what I thought it was--and see if that work. If it does, I'd delete the
other transaction.

Maybe I just need to delete this and all future occurences
of my paycheck and start over. I have to admit, sometimes
I get confused between adding a deposit manually and
setting one up in the recurring section. Somtimes (with
bills, too) I end up with duplicate transactions in the
same month.
