| This answer could have been clearer: Using Bills:Mortgage Payment is indeed wrong if you have a Money Loan Account setup to track the loan liability. See reply below for how they should be "categorized". Bills:Mortgage Payment is an "Expense Category"--it makes the money go away and says why it went away. This would be appropriate if you didn't have a Money Loan Account setup to track the mortgage loan liability. Loan Payment:[name of mortgage account] is a "Special Category" that does special things besides just record an expense: a) Loan Payment:[name of mortgage account] respects the loan specifics of [name of mortgage account] to determine and categorize an Expense portion of the payment for the interest accrual based on the remaining balance, interest rate, and interest Expense Category setup when you setup the Money Loan Account, and b) applies the remainder as a transfer from the cash account to the Money Loan Account liability, reducing the balance of the liability. That may not have made it clearer, but I tried. | Hi Dick - thanks for answering. There are no downloaded transactions involved. The payments in the paying register are categorised as Bills: Mortgage Payment. Is this wrong?
