IMHO it is just that and is v unlikely to do anything for you. In fact
archiving has all sorts of unforeseen effects concerning trends and history.

Many posters here have files > 10mb and by a lot!

Sounds like a cop-out to me, but I'm willing to waste some time archiving if
it'll speed things up... Perhaps I will give that a shot (after making a
couple extra copies of my current file of course)

Thx for the reply

I had this same problem when I converted to 05 from 04. My only lasted for
the first two minutes when I started Money. AFter that, it appeared fine. I
went back to 04. I am going to try 05 again. I would also be interested in
what it is doing. I figured it was background banking. Microsoft told me it
was due to my money file being over 10MB

Default M05D Maxing 100% TaskMgr XP Prof

Have been using Money since '99 (Converted from quicken since version 1.0),
just upgraded from 03 to 05D. MAJOR problem is that it max's my CPU (p3-800,
384mRAM, 10GBfree)to 100% for +2 minutes EVERY TIME I ATTEMPT TO CHANGE
SCREENS. Tried everything I can think of including stripping down all
unnecessary background processes and uninstalling/reinstalling the software.
Any ideas? Considering the issues when I converted TO money, I'd hate to go
through that again in the reverse.
