| Not sure if I understand, but if you want your computer at home to give you a choice whether to download or automatically open your downloadable transactions, do the following: (Assuming Windows XP--other versions of windows might be slightly different) Choose Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Scroll through the list until you find the file type that you're trying to import into money (OFC/OFX/QIF). This should be associated with something like "Microsoft Money Import Handler". Click on the Advanced button and then check the box to "Confirm open after download". This will make your computer ask you whether you want to download the file, or automatically import it into Money. Hope this helps! dordale ![]() "CiCiDuck" <CiCiDuck[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F4F5FD54-B672-47EA-9880-B9A59C73A973[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Cap - I tried that long ago, but I have not posted this problem on here > before. | Cap - I tried that long ago, but I have not posted this problem on here before. I just found this site today. Cal- - quote - > It seems strange to me that you could email the file to yourself
home and opened my email, I saved it to my desktop, and double clicked IT and> without knowing what the file name was, unless you are set up to > hide extensions. > I'm not sure what you mean here...I knew the file name because I was able to save it to my work computer. I just titled it "download." Then when I got that opened money and imported it at the same time. I have been able to get the "do you want to save or open" screen to come up now - by deleting those extensions as I found on another bank's website. - quote - > Once you have the file on your machine, you would do File-> Import
My problem with this Cal is that I can't seem to ge the file ON my machine> rather than File-> Open within Money. at home. Only by saving it at work and emailing to myself. Now when the "save or open" screen comes up, and I click save OR open the computer just starts "thinking" for lack of a better word, and a screen comes up that SAYS downloading but it never gets anywhere. |

Maybe?? without knowing what the file name was, unless you are set up to hide extensions. - quote - > I do not know what file type I was downloading. Once you have the file on your machine, you would do File-> Import rather than File-> Open within Money. |

| I wrote a response to this problem in an earlier post, but if I am undertanding your problem correctly, you might want to try deleting your temporary internet files. Go to "tools" on your browser, then "internet options". If you delete these files, it should work right. | As for the file I emailed home I was able to save it to my computer and then open it in Money. It worked perfectly. No problems. And when I saved it on my work computer the option to save or open came up right away. That is what I can't get to open up on my home computer. It never says "would you like to save this or open it..." and I think that is part of my problem. Maybe?? I do not know what file type I was downloading. I have tried deleting the file types .ofc, .ofx, and .qif and then downloading but that didn't work either. (I found that on a different bank website as a possible solution.) Not necessarily. When you install Money 2002 it also installs a handler for> I was able to save the download to my work computer (with NO MM > software) and email it home no problem. And if the bank didn't > support 2002, then wouldn't it not support a computer with NO MM > software? certain file types, like ocx. If, on your home machine, the handler is accepting the downloaded file and then barfing on it's contents that might cause the problem you are seeing. Your work machine, with no specific handler for that type of file, will just allow you to save it to disk. Your old bank may have offered downloads in a different format (qif maybe) which didn't cause the problem. What happens when you try to load the file that you emailed home? -- Ian Use the Reply-To address to contact me. Mail sent to the From address is ignored. |

You might want to name the bank. Perhaps somebody has experience> fault. > Really I think something is wrong with my computer. I never had problems > with old bank, but new bank never gives me the option to save download. It > just starts downloading transactions, only it never goes anywhere. Even if > you let it download for three days... with it. In IE6, UNcheck Tools-> InternetOptions-> DoNotSaveEncryptedPagesToDisk You don't say whether you are doing OFX or QIF download from website or what. |

| Okay, of course MM claims it's the banks fault, and the bank claims it's MM's fault. Really I think something is wrong with my computer. I never had problems with old bank, but new bank never gives me the option to save download. It just starts downloading transactions, only it never goes anywhere. Even if you let it download for three days... I am guessing there is something wrong with either my Money file, OR the settings on my computer....I just need to know what to change? Bank said they only support MM 2004 and that is why the problems, but I was able to save the download to my work computer (with NO MM software) and email it home no problem. And if the bank didn't support 2002, then wouldn't it not support a computer with NO MM software? |
