Default Re: Money 2005 - Is there a way to avoid creating duplicate categories

The only suggestion I can offer, it isn't a great one... is to go to
"set up categories" and to "move" (found at the bottom of page)
everything from say Day Care-#1 to Day Care category. I know this
stinks if it's duplicated many of these. I've also had problems with
it moving some of my subcatagories to catagories... ex: Food:
groceries is now just groceries. Moving also worked here, but takes
much time to get it back to it's original state. I've had Money since
1999 version. Had no problems until 2005.

I had the same issue when trying to set up the online services. It
duplicated the majority of the categories I had (also with the
xxxxx-#1 naming convention). I haven't figured out how to get around
this or the duplicate accounts.

Default Money 2005 - Is there a way to avoid creating duplicate categories

I have used Money 2003 for 2 years now. I did not use ANY of the online
features nor did I have a .NET Passport. I just purchased Money 2005. I
took my existing .mny file and converted it for use in Money 2005. I enabled
my checking account (from US Bank) to use online services. NOT ONLY did 2005
create a brand new duplicate account with my recent activity in it (see my
other posting), BUT it also duplicated most of my existing budget categories
too.

For example, I had an existing category called "Day Care". Now I have two
of them: "Day Care" and "Day Care-#1".

Is there a way to resolve this, or work around it? Has anyone else seen
this problem?

Thanks In Advance!
