| I'm thinking it's pretty strange that I can't create this case, too. I did just try a case more or less like yours. Enter the paycheck from the schedule, then manually enter the transfer. They stay in this order. If I enter the transfer manually, then the paycheck from the schedule, they stay in that order. You are on M03/4? "Regina A. | No, it's not a critical issue; I get around it simply. I was responding to this thread since I happened upon it. My deposit is a schduled transaction. Subsequent to entry of the transaction in the register, if I then manually perform the transfer on the same date (I sort by date), then the transfer enters itself in prior to the deposit. My "fix", is to simply put a date of the following day. But, I DO wonder why you don't reproduce this in your test - kind of strange, huh? | Were these **scheduled** in transfer then paycheck deposit order? Was one a scheduled item and the other not? I just tried a simplified test case: enter a deposit then a transfer on the 11th and a transfer then a deposit on the 12th. These also retain their entry order no matter what I do (besides sort by number, if numbered, payee, if different payees, and sort by amount). I thought (before take the time to try and prove it) that "entry order" for two items entered from scheduled transactions might inherit the creation order of the scheduled items. I got different results however. They still respect entry order from the schedule to the registers. I also tried a scheduled paycheck/scheduled transfer case. Ditto. Entry order into the register seems to control how transactions on a given date will be sorted. At any rate and based on the test cases I've tried here on M04, I still think your case is driven by something else going on--we haven't figured out what, yet--and the general case is that entry order within date is the sort order for register transactions in Money and cannot be changed. I welcome a re-creation scenario--tell me what to do in what order in a new file with appropriate accounts already created--to demonstrate otherwise. Besides all of the above, does it really matter? The balance at the end of the day is what matters and what matters to your bank. Whether you get there high then low or low then high, 1-2+3 == 1+3-2. It's a cosmetic issue in the user's head, not a real accounting problem. "Regina A. | In my particular case, every paycheck, I first enter in the deposit (made directly into my checking account), then I follow this with a transfer to my savings. Each time, I have to "tell" Money that the transfer is on the following day or I have a negative balance in the checking account because the transfer shows up in the register prior to the deposit. | Hmmm. Perhaps I read this as register, not "cash flow report." What I stated is correct for register view, and I just tried a test to confirm. I entered a deposit then a payment for today and a payment then a deposit for tomorrow. They stayed this way in the register view, for a given day, no matter what I did. What report are you or Rickie referring to? (There is no "cash flow report" in the gallery--if you save the cash flow widget to favorites, all it has is a set of numbers. Kinda interesting that it creates a type of report for which no prototype exists in the gallery.) I also just tested this (with my previously entered test case numbers) using the Account Transactions report, and had the same results. Sorted by date, the payment/deposit show in entry order within date. Payment entered first displays first. Deposit entered first displays first. Could you cite a re-creation scenario and version? | I use the date feature - and they are listed in order entry sequence... "Regina A. | Dick, This is not true if you use the sort by date. Bills come before deposits unless you use the sort by entry order option. | I'm meaning for the same day. If deposits and bills happen on the same day, I want deposits to happen first before bills so I don't get a negative balance - quote - > -----Original Message----- > How do I get my cash flow report to first show the > deposit before it shows the bills so that I don't get a > negative amount? > much thanks. > rickie > . |

| Enter them in that order. There is no other way. Once all other sorts listed in the view option are performed, entry order takes over.
