You might want to look at AceMoney as well.

Hey, some useful advice! This sounds like a more easy to switch to
alternative than GnuCash which would need some reverse WineX. or Windows
recompile from source.

Thanks! I'll check this out.

I have been with MS Money ever since it first came out. With 2005 SB I have
not had any upgrades, however, I am always frustrated by the "bloat" of the
program.

I too have been looking for an alternative to Quicken and MS Money and I have
stumbled upon Moneydance (http://www.moneydance.com) which can be used on all
OS.

It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the commercial players, but I
have been pleased with what it has done for me so far.

You neglect to mention that GnuCash requires a different operating system
than most of us use for most purposes. This raises the stakes several orders
of magnitude. You also neglect to mention that there has been some
significant decline in developer contribution to GnuCash over time.

Default MS Money 2005/Quicken 2005 -> GnuCash instead ??

Since MS Money 2005 so far has been a wash, as well as Quicken 2005, it's
either stick to 2004, or wait for 2006 so far for me. :P

Meantime, has anybody any experiences on switching to something like GnuCash
which does not suffer from marketingitis, and is built by real programmers?

From what I can tell, GnuCash doesn't have all the pretty bells and whistles
like direct online-download, but has most of the basic double-entry/qif-ofx
import abilities plus possibly better reporting/graphing abilities, with
ability to access from multiple computers or something such due to a real SQL
backend.

Something to look at that seems stable and predictable, unlike Quicken or
Money.
