| There isn't one feature. There are lots of different Essential modes. Essential Register, Essential Budget, Essential Reports, to name three that come to mind. Essential Register is a property that applies to accounts. Essential Budget and Essential Reports can both be set in Tools|Settings. Let us know what you think of this Essential stuff. Pretty much nobody here has reported using them. When I was playing around with M05, it was obvious quickly that most existing Money users would not find these useful. | I read somewhere an article about MSMoney 2005 having a feature that turned most of these features off called back to basics. I am unable to find out any other information about this. Does anyone else know or can point me to this information. Then you create a dialer shortcut and use that to connect when you want. But you don't want Windows to be doing dial-on-demand. When you want to hang up, you disconnect. This is how I operated when I was on dialup. I was not using ZA, but I do/did use a different firewall. |

| The msg is from ZoneAlarm saying that Money is trying to access the internet. This is fine and I let it when I want stock price updates, but when I don't, it's a real pain to sit there and wait while it starts my dial-up for nothing. I usually update prices once a week, but I often go to Money for reports or info that doesn't require the internet. | The only solution is the marketeers who design the thing getting a grip. Most accounts indicate that Q trades one set of issues for another. | I took a look at these FAQs. They only agree that it happens, they do not have a solution. I shut it off in my firewall, but then it's a pain to get stock quotes when you want them. There must be a way around this. I'm sure there are many more users out there that won't put up with this. Is Quicken any better??
