| Ah, good deduction! I actually used the laser wallet checks until I upgraded to M05, when I switched to laser standard, so I wouldn't have thought about that. As a former bug-fixer for a different software company, I can tell you that there's usually a lengthy process between identification of the bug, fixing the bug, and then integrating it into an update/path. Even if the fix is simple or known, it can take months. Opensource really has commercial software beat on that one! -Billy "Doug" wrote: - quote - > I've run enough tests to deduce that the check printing routine is not > differentiating between Laser Wallet and Laser Standard checks when printing > the amount of the check in words. | I've run enough tests to deduce that the check printing routine is not differentiating between Laser Wallet and Laser Standard checks when printing the amount of the check in words. The positioning of the various fields on the checks seems to work just fine. It appears that someone just forgot that the length of the amount (in words) is the only field on the checks that varies in size depending on the style of the check. Seems that this would've been an easy thing to have fixed in the just-released update, as the logic has already been figured out and proved to work correctly in every version of MS Money until Money 2005. | I've noticed the same thing as well and don't really have a clue on how to fix it. I'm working on the assumption that the small blip of stars is good enough and if someone tried to alter the check, it would probably be detected. I was hoping that M05 would actually print partial-sheet checks correctly, but that seems to be only wishful thinking on my part. | Apparently something was "fixed" in Money 2005 that wasn't broken in Money 2004. Using "Laser Standard" as the check type, the line on my checks that prints the amount in words (e.g., "Twenty-seven and 34/100******") does not extend across the width of the check anymore. Depending on the amount of the check, that line might extend anywhere from 25% - 65% across the width of the check, leaving a noticeable gap. This is the first version of Money where this has occurred (at least for me). Money Support determined that "this is how the product works". Has anyone else noticed this and /or found a way around it.? |
