Default Re: Sharing

My best understanding answers are below. Note I DO NOT use M05 and its "file
sharing" which isn't.

Money, even M05, was not designed to support this via mapped drive or UNC.
You can do it reasonably successfully (performance being a big issue) IF you
MAKE CERTAIN that only one application is accessing the file at a time.
Doing otherwise will result in corrupted data files sooner or later.

Yes, sort of. They get at a subset of the data pushed onto the MSN web site.
No. This technology has nothing to do with sharing your data file, no matter
what Microsoft's marketeers have written about it. Yes. Now everything to do
with your file locally or with access to the synced data subset on the web
requires Passport access authentication.

The Sync with Web path is probably the least risky but has other side
effects, not the least of which is that some of your data ends up stored on
MSN servers.

Default Sharing

I am new to Money 2005 (Deluxe), and I have some questions about sharing the
..mny file.

Searching support didn't give me definitive answers to the following
questions:
"FILE SHARING" Network Share, Mapped Drive.
Are there any issues sharing the file, and accessing it over the network?
Are there any issues with multiple users accessing the file at the same
time?

"SHARING OPTIONS:" Tools-Settings-Sharing Options
How does this work with the internet sync functionality? Here is what the
preferences screen says for sharing
"Manage sharing
Below are the e-mail addresses of the people who share your Microsoft Money
file. To share your file with another person, have them enter their
Microsoft .NET Passport sign-in name below, and then click Share."

Are the users one defines in here getting a sync'd version of your data
file? Are they granted permission to your local .mny file as well? Doe it
use the passport account to verify access to the local file?

If I want to have a copy on the home computer, and one on a roaming laptop
(I'm in sales), how do I best accommodate that?

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestion.
