Another thing that could be useful is to export QIF files from some
accounts in Money 2004. The thing that you have to watch for is
having transactions turn into separate transactions. If you are
doing the whole file that way, you normally want to
File-> Import-> RecoverAccounts using Ctrl+<click> to select all of
the QIF files at once. Duplicates are not checked for, but
transfers usually get preserved as transfers that way.

Read on.

If you File-> Import-> DownloadStatement the QIF files, expect Money
to look for and eliminate duplicates of existing transactions. That
will usually work in your favor if I understand what you are
describing.

As you add various pieces, I suggest you save extra backups or
Money-file copies under different names. That way you can return to
a point if you don't like the effect of your last action or two.

Default Money 2005: Start from scratch or import using .QIF Excel Add-in?

I am being audited by the IRS. My Money files (several
of them from M4) are either corrupt or have
discrepancies. I have to recreate financial data back to
2000.

I have requested, received and then subsequently scanned
all bank statements into Excel. I found an excel add-in
that will convert the data into .QIF format. I was
planning to them import into Money 2005. Some months I
had saved the actual bank download file in addition to
the months mentioned above.

Will this work so I do not have to recreate every single
transaction? If I could just get my checking accounts
and even some of the bill accounts (mortgage, auto, etc)
I would be happy. I already understand that I to capture
the indiviudal transactions for the audit I will need to
recreate the categories after importing into Money 2005.

Any help is appreciated. I have been working on this for
the past 2.5 months and the IRS has run out of patience.

Desperate and soon to be broke!?

Thanks.
