| I think that this whole program has been outsourced. MS gave the objectives and the timelime for release and that was it. It was more then likely behind schedule and rushed to release becuase Quicken came out with theirs. Then the problems started to show, surprise surprise. I'm hope a post-mortum review is in progress. Maybe time to bring the developement back home. It's hard to resist being cynical about Money 2005 the product.> color scheme to something different from MSN Money. That way you can't > distinguish Money from MSN Money pages based on color alone. I'll further > guess that perhaps MS can dynamically update the color scheme to match > changes in MSN. However, I noticed heavy use of gradient patterns and similar visual flourishes in parts of the interface, so I suspect the color scheme is locked for much the same reason as Windows XP's is. They might have planned to add a couple of themes (again like XP) but abandoned this feature in order to shove more untested online code into the product. Of course it speaks volumes that the documentation was never updated to reflect jettisoned features as the product was developed, or proofread to ensure that everything in it was accurate to this version of Money. Microsoft is a huge company. They have over 50,000 employees, and I don't think that's counting all the foreign call centers filled with useless, thick-accented zombies that I often get transferred to when I call Microsoft support. All those bodies and they couldn't ship a professionally assembled and designed product. But the problem is possibly related to the increasingly bureaucratic nature of Microsoft itself. I have noticed that dealing with Microsoft customer service is much like a trip to the DMV. Apathy, ignorance, and confusion. It wasn't always this way--I remember calling in about a problem with Money 2002 when I first got it, and the service was professional and thorough, with a follow-up call to make sure I was completely happy. One day recently I got transferred at least five times to the wrong departments. People in the same area gave wildly different responses to the same question. Some reps would just shrug their shoulders and say they had no way of finding something out, then after more transfer tag another rep would mysteriously find the answer to my question--and the question was frequently just, "Who should I talk to at Microsoft about this?" No one knew, it seemed. What's galling is the way they give up, blatantly just give up because they aren't trained to pursue anything on behalf of the customer. "I don't know off the top of my head" means "I won't help you". It's pathetic. |

| I haven't found it either. Actually there are several settings that I used in MM 04 that I have not been able to find in 05. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Quote from Help file: > "To customize your color scheme or the page that appears > when you start Money, go to the Settings page, and then > click Program settings." > This is lead is incorrect. | Let me be cynical and guess that was disabled so you couldn't change your color scheme to something different from MSN Money. That way you can't distinguish Money from MSN Money pages based on color alone. I'll further guess that perhaps MS can dynamically update the color scheme to match changes in MSN. -- Chris Cowles, Gainesville, FL <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:042401c4ace5$7592f4f0$a501280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > Yes, that line in the M05 Help file had me scouring the > settings page for the better part of an hour before I > realized there simply was NO color scheme/color change > adjustment. |

Yes, that line in the M05 Help file had me scouring the settings page for the better part of an hour before I realized there simply was NO color scheme/color change adjustment. |

| Quote from Help file: "To customize your color scheme or the page that appears when you start Money, go to the Settings page, and then click Program settings." This is lead is incorrect. There is no color change option on the Program Settings page. If anybody has found it, please let me know. |
