| Yes, I saw your post and tried it. It seemed to synch, but when I went to an alternate computer, the entire portfolio did not appear, only parts, so I am still working on it, but your solution seems to be a step forward. Are the accounts on your investing home page adding to the same total as on your portfolio page. Mine are not. One of the MVPs posted a ms document that might help. Perhaps they could repost it at this point and I cannot find in on either my laptop or my desktop. | I posted today under the title "Synchronization Problem solved!!!. I had the same problem you are describing and solved it today. Here's a copy of my message: --------------------- I just had success today in solving my long running problem with getting both Billpay and synchronization to work in Money 2005. I like many others have been having a problem since the upgrade in getting Billpay to work and also to get MSN synchronization to work. It's been my belief that the two problems were tied to each other. A few weeks ago I had posted that I successfully got Billpay to work within 2005, but still no luck with synchronization. As a reminder, here's how I got Billpay to work. I started with a working version of my Money 2004 file, disabled MSN sync while leaving Billpay operational from within Money 2004. I then upgraded the file to 2005 and Billpay continued to work. However until today, I was never able to get synchronization to work. And the supposed steps to get there were to disable Billpay from within 2005 and then sync. Doing so, however, would lead to neither working. Today I found a backdoor way to get synchronization to work without messing up my functioning Billpay. And you don't need to disable Billpay and you won't get duplicate accounts. Here are the steps I took: 1. I went into MSN Moneycentral and loaded the Portfolio Manager by going to MSN Money and selecting Portfolio within the Investing section. 2. Once the shell of the Porfolio loads, go to the left hand tasks bar at the bottom and click on "More|File Options|Restore backup". 3. I then selected my current Money 2005 data file "xxx.mny" as the source to restore from. I had thought that this option would do a onetime sync and hopefully bring in investments from the Money file. And it did that accurately. What surprised me is that when I then went into my Money 2005 file, I found that it was now successfully synchronizing with MSN. Apparently, this restore backup option actually invokes a sync with Money. It was that simple. No requirement to disable Billpay. No endless loop asking me to choose between old data on MSN or the data in my Money file. The only problem encountered so far was that after successfully syncing, I found that some of the account options for some of my accounts had changed in the Money file. My selection of favorite accounts were no longer selected and my settings for retirement accounts had been unselected. It was a simple matter to go into the affected accounts, select "change account details" and re-check the boxes as appropriate for "Favorite Account" and/or "Retirement account". I'm now at a point where I have everything working pretty much as it did in 2004. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else that was having this problem (I know you're out there) can recreate the above steps and get the same successful conclusion as I did today. Either the Money team fixed something or I stumbled upon a backdoor workaround to solve the problem. | I get the message upon starting that the synch feature is not going to work because the data on msn is different than the data in M05. So far, so good. I then continue to the choice that rejects the data on msn in favor of the data in M05. I wait a day. And guess what. I get the same message time after time. I use the M05 as the underlyng standard for my data so I simply want to wipe out whatever data I have on MSN and allow the M05 program to do its thing. The goal is tobe able to access, from a different computer, the data that M05 places there. Seems very broken from this end. Ha anyone had this issue and figured it out. |
