| Just because software is no longer being sold (licensed, actually, but that's a different issue), that doesn't mean the copyright owner forfeits their right to distribute it as they choose to, or choose not to. If you licensed it when licenses were being sold, and the license did not include a time or other conditional limit, you are free to use it as long as you wish, assuming compliance with other aspects of the license. But if you never purchased a license, the fact that licenses are no longer being sold does not give you the right to use it at will. -- Chris Cowles, Gainesville, FL "JigPig" <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message ... - quote - > I thought if the software was no longer being sold using a copy was > actually legal since the company is not losing any money. |

| Nobody cares? So Microsoft won't care if I use it? I don't really understand copyright laws. I thought if the software was no longer being sold using a copy was actually legal since the company is not losing any money. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > The legal and ethical answer is almost certainly no. Yes. No one can stop you. By the way, most EULA's aren't worth the> copy of Ms Money v.5. I do not own the original. I have > an old computer. | The legal and ethical answer is almost certainly no. The practical answer is that probably nobody cares if you install M97. | Hmm, more an ethical question. I found someone's backup copy of Ms Money v.5. I do not own the original. I have an old computer. According to the lifecycle page, this will work on my system but is not sold anymore, or supported anymore. Am I allowed to install it? |
