| You can only merge an account once, I've found that annoying. Once I merged the online account and the old account, it lost its online funcationality so I tried setting it up again and thus created another dup account but couldn't merge it to the previously merged one. Also, I've found almost annoying enough to reinstall 2004, when it downloads new transactions automatically, it doesn't match them with the transaction I already entered like it does if I import the new data from the bank website. For instance, I have a bank transfer from BofA from Savings to Checking. I entered it into Money as a transfer. When money pulls it from the website the next day after it has cleared, money created a new debit in the savings and a new deposit in the checking. If I delete them it keeps redownloading them. So then I decided to go with the Money download and delete mine. Then I mark the money downloaded ones as transfers and it creates a new corresponding transfer instead of linking the two together. Basically I can't enter in transactions manually if i am going to use the online services feature of Money or it will create duplicates. I also can't use the transfer: function or it creates duplicates. Money 2004 was a lot better at matching new downloaded transactions with manually entered transactions. How can I get in on the beta for Money 2006? I've used Money since Money 98 and have upgraded every year. There doesn't seem to be as much quality beta testing on 2005 compared to all the previous ones. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > .... > "Steve" <farmer.steve[at]SPAMgmail.com> wrote in message > news:3d0c01c4ab46$a2239d80$a301280a[at]phx.gbl... > > 1.) You must use the "Merge duplicate accounts" function. The duplicate account> online bank to get updates? > When I set it up, it always creates a new account, and I > do not need that. is created as a side effect of the online account setup. Once you get the new account, merge it into the old... this will keep the info in the old account and then synch the data from the new online account into the old. When you first merge the accounts you may end up with duplicate transactions, so make note of your balance. The dupes are usually within the past 1 to 32 days. - quote - > 2.) Money and MSN do a two way synch. Money is sending the transactions it has> the data from the online site. > I want to UPLOAD the data, not download. I want my home > machine to be in charge. How do I set that up? to MSN and MSN is sending the transactions it has to Money. This will allow the online updates to work. See, when you use online updates (not OFX Direct Connect), Money is telling MSN Money to actually do the update. MSN is in control. Money will then check back with MSN after about a minute to check the status of these updates and then download the new transactions for your to see. It also does the same thing with manually entered transactions in MSN. - quote - > 3.) How can I gategorise exsiting transactions in bulk,
When you view the transactions in a report or by payee or something of that> rather then one by one? nature, you can usally select multiple transactions and then change their category. Also, the find and replace feature may be nice in that case. There is no way in the account register to select or work with multiple transactions... a feature much like the other normal or standard features that Money is lacking. | I am setting up my accounts in 2005 Small Business. I am several problems, questions. 1.) How can I associate an existing account with my online bank to get updates? When I set it up, it always creates a new account, and I do not need that. 2.) When I sync the data mith MSN money, it ALWAYS gets the data from the online site. I want to UPLOAD the data, not download. I want my home machine to be in charge. How do I set that up? 3.) How can I gategorise exsiting transactions in bulk, rather then one by one? Any help is really appreciated. Steve Senior Programmer. |
