| I should have said "they"--I wasn't knocking you at all. Your supposition may well be correct. I'm merely saying that if that's the reason, I'd sure like to know what the ratio of users that were helped and hindered by this. Whatever, I think futzing with existing categories was a very bad choice and should have been documented in the README at the very least. | So we screwed over X number of Money users for Y number of MSN Money users? What do you think the ratio of X:Y is? I haven't a clue but doubt it's close to 1. | I let the ***Move*** create the new category. As soon as I enter Food iningOut as the destination of the Move, I get the Define the subcategory dialog to create the "new" subcategory Groceries within Food. I didn't try to create a new category Food:Groceries. | Easy work around is to (re)create the 'new' category first as a sub-category of Food, then move. -- Chris Cowles, Gainesville, FL "SJCOHEN730" <sjcohen730[at]aol.com> wrote in message news:20041002224025.25434.00001605[at]mb-m04.aol.com... - quote - > > Subject: Re: Money 2005 changed my categories - Groceries, Dining Out > > From: "Dick Watson" littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com > > Date: 10/2/2004 2:27 PM Eastern Daylight Time > > Message-id: <eTXHz2KqEHA.3748[at]TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl> > > Yes. | Yes. Go to the categories page and Move Groceries to a NEW category named Food:Groceries and move Dining Out to a NEW category named Food ining Out.Please do this as I wrote it. Do not Move Groceries to Food thinking you will end up with Food:Groceries. You won't. If there's any doubt you understand these instructions, ask back or do it in a copy of your data file first. A decade of upgrades without mangled categories. Why M05 had to be different, only Microsoft knows for sure. | I upgraded from Money 2004 Deluxe to the web version and it changed Dining Out and Groceries to seperate categories instead of keeping them as subcategories of Food. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks, Todd Major |
