| Well, this can be a problem then. It is normal for Money to duplicate the initial transactions however, what I would suggest, prior to merging is to backup of course. Make sure that you have a copy of your Money file so that if anything goes drastically wrong, you can go back. Now that you have a copy, what I would do as well is go the report and export all your transactions from the account so that you have a list of all the transactions and their splits, etc, in Excel or spreadsheet so that if you need to refer back to see what is what your can. After doing all this, when you select the "Merge Account" option, you should see a warning message telling you that by merging the two account will create duplicate transactions from "mm/dd/yy" to "mm/dd/yy". This will tell you how far back you will actually need to go in order to get rid of the duplicates... also, something handy is to sort the transactions by "Credit/Debit" so that you can easily see duplicates... you should be able to delete the duplicates without any problem... and hopefully it will not go all the way back to August... but if it does, it is a small price to pay to make it work (not really... ![]() Important Tips: Backup the Money file Export your transactions from the "Report" so that you can see what should really be in the account after you are all done Make very good notes about your starting and ending balances and the date range of these transactions Make sure that you are viewing the correct view in the account register (View All Transactions, select the correct date range... if it goes back to August I would select "Last 3 Months" and then sort by "Credit/Debit"... after you are done, set the view to "Last 12 months" and then sort by date and find the few transactions at the beginning of August that you may have overlooked. Hope that helps. | Larry, I was having this same problem so I followed your advise. It worked except for the fact the new account connected and came back with a ton of transactions (not empty like you said)... now I'm afraid to "merge" the old and new account for fear of a ton (and I mean a ton) of double transactions. Am I doing something wrong? I renamed the old accounts, had all my info erased off of msn (removed and then put back passport). Then created a new account at my institution...set up online services...and then it connected (whoo hoo!)... and downloaded all the transactions from my bank (all the way into August). Now my problem is if I try to merge this sync working account with the old account I have been using up to this point-- I believe I will have double transactions for August +. Help? Thanks! | This issue is a bug if you ask me. The way I was able to get around it is to create a new account instead of attempting to setup an account for online services. In the account list view, select "Add Account" and go through the prompts. It may warn you that you have already setup an account at financial institution "X", but ignore it... when you get the new account setup, delete the bad one that is showing up in your account list... of course, make sure you don't have any transactions in it (you shouldn't). Then, you can merge this new account with your already existing account that you were originally trying to setup for online services. Also, make sure that you are not getting a "MSN Synch Failed" error in your Update Report. If you are, then the problem is with connectivity and not with corruption/bug. | I am experiencing the same thing. It also crashes hard when I try to use the summary view for my investment accounts. I have submitted several support incidents to MS, but they are still scratching their heads. Please let me know if you get this resolved. |

| In addition to the sync problems and the total mess Billpay has become, I have now realized that regardless of bank or provider, if I try to configure online services I get the message "Account setup is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." Basically M2005 has become almost completely un-usable. |
