| Have you considered the possibility that Capitol One and Money 2004 just don't work together? I don't know this to be a fact, I'm asserting a possibility. You seem like a good candidate for M05, the entire point of which seems to be emphasis on online banking as an exclusive strategy of use. It may work with Capitol One if Yodlee does. As a new Money user, you might be surprised to learn that Money can provide valuable financial management assistance without EVER connecting it to your bank online. It does require more typing but proves much less problematic for many users. | I am using Money 2004. In terms of intuitive, how about having buttons under "Accounts & Bills" such as "Online credit card", "Online Bank", "Online Mutual Fund", etc. Also, as far as unintuitive goes, no one has yet given me instructions on how to add an additional online credit card for Capitol One. Again, I would appreciate any help on this matter. | No matter how simple Microsoft tries to make it, and simplifying this stuff is virtually the only thing they've put any programming effort into for four or five versions now, there are ALWAYS some people who still find it complicated and unintuitive. I'm not sure what it would have to do for these people to find it simple and intuitive. Brand new MS Money user of what version?> can't figure out how to do? I am a brand new MS Money user, in case this > helps others respond. Money 2005 just came out, but many of us continue to use Money 2004 and earlier until a trial of Money 2005 is available, but from what's been posted here, many things have been changed in Money 2005 from prior versions. -- Scott Tyler agent_scotty-at-hotmail-dot-com |

| This did nothing for me. I tried following your incomplete directions. I mentioned incomplete because there are a number of steps that were required and I don't know if I chose the correct path or not. Here is what I did: 1. I clicked on Accounts & Bills, not "accounts". I assume this is what you meant. 2. I then clicked on "add new account" 3. I clicked on "Not held at a bank, broker, or other financial institution" because the "held at" option only listed accounts that I had previously set up. 4. I then chose "credit card" as the type of account 5. I then named the account "Capitol One" 6. I then gave it the interest rate 7. I then entered a balance, etc. 7. I then told the "wizard" that it was a charge card 8. I then entered a credit limit 9. I told it not to AutoBalance the account 10. Told it when to remind me the bill is due 11. Told it that it had frequent flyer miles, but no programs to choose from so I just arbitraritly named it "Frequent Flyer" 12. I then finished the setup Next, following your advice, I 1. Clicked on "Accounts & Bills" (there was no "Accounts" option unless I missed it). 2. I then clicked on "Online Service Manager" (there was no "Manage Online Services" button, but I assume this is what you are talking about) 3. This brought up a screen with the following categories a) Banks and brokerages that are set up for online; b) Banks and brokerages that have no online services (the Capitol One account that I just set up was not listed); and c) online payment services providers) At this screen, there are no prompts to follow anything listed under the "Banks and brokerages that have no online services" to set up Capitol One as an online account. Exploring around, I found out that the "Capitol One" account shows up if I click on "Specify where accounts are held", but the "Capitol One" account shows up under "Unassigned Accounts" with no options to do anything (such as assign) to it. Is it just me, or is this an incredibly unintuitive procedure that I still can't figure out how to do? I am a brand new MS Money user, in case this helps others respond. I appreciate any help on this matter that you can provide me. "Joe Guidera" wrote: - quote - > Select accounts, then add a new account, select Credit for the type when > prompted. | Generally this feature will work as long as the lending company is under the LIST of Banks that Microsoft has gathered of their service. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Select accounts, then add a new account, select Credit for the type when > prompted. | Select accounts, then add a new account, select Credit for the type when prompted. Enter the information about the account. Once the account has been created, select Accounts, then Manage Online Services. Select the "setup online services" link next to the account you just setup and follow the prompts. -- ----------- Joe Guidera jguidera[at]msn.com.remove "pterostyrax" <pterostyrax[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:04064275-4364-4D70-846D-393991A766D9[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > It continuously amazes me how what should be extremely simple tasks to do > are > incredibly difficult with useless help information. | It continuously amazes me how what should be extremely simple tasks to do are incredibly difficult with useless help information. I want to set up a new account with my Capitol One credit card. How do I accomplish this so that it downloads my transactions rather than me having to manually enter them? |
