How long between close and reopen? MSMONEY.exe (look at task manager) will
run "for a while" after you exit the program.

My observation with M05 was that you have to wait a LONG time after the
window goes away for Money actually to be done doing whatever it is that
it's doing.

I just installed Money 2005 Deluxe and I keep getting this message
(Money is already running) almost every time that I close Money and
then try to restart in the same Windows session. If I restart the
computer, then it is ok until the next time I close and restart Money.
Anyone know of a cause/fix for this issue?

Open an incident with Microsoft, Regis. I can't think of anything else.

I am not receiving any error messages and have performed a repair of the
database with not errors found. Thanks however for the information.

For what it's worth, I see the same (after 24 hours...) problem. Couple of
things I've noticed:
1. it seems to be specific to a datafile -- I see it with some datasets and
not with others
2. it often accompanies a "can't perform" message when closing the dataset
3. there seems to be a correlation with the problem and whether or not the
previous instance involved an internet update
4. the most recent "repair" of the money dataset seems to have fixed the
problem -- for now..............

I currently have an incident open on this. They have responded that
they have never heard of anyone else with this problem and have asked me
to de-install Money 04, use a special verification that it is removed.
And then re-load it. As you have pointed out this does not work.

I have found that using the sample file it does not occur. Also I have
a test money 04 account with only 2 on line accounts that does not seem
to have the problem.

I have found that even after 24 hours the msmoney.exe is still running.

I have seen Money behave similarly. After closing the program, if I
try starting it up a few seconds later it says it's already running.
After a few more seconds the first instance finally quits though.
Don't know why yours is hanging indefinitely, but there's clearly
something funky about Money's exit procedure.

> Is this a known problem? Will it be fixed?

I note in other messages the default attitude that "maybe next year's
version will fix some of these problems." Of course anyone who has
paid attention to user reactions to Money releases over the years
knows that they've been well-trained to this attitude. Microsoft
seldom fixes significant problems between versions. They will
obviously have to fix major showstoppers like MSN Money sync, but your
problem can very easily be blamed on "third party software" or
"problem with your computer" and although there is something not right
with the way Money exits it will not inconvenience enough people for
Microsoft to consider worth fixing.

I too have been having this problem. My solution has been to re-boot
my PC which takes time but next time I will terminate the msmoney.exe
process as you do.

I thought I caused the problem after I did some file clean-ups so I
re-installed the Money 2005 software but it did not help.

I am not a heavy user of Money 2005, only do basic tasks but with new
problems cropping up affecting what I do, I will seriously consider
returning the software by the 30th day.

Default Money 2005: Money is already running

I don't understand why every once in a while (frequently)
I am unable to launch Money without killing the
msmoney.exe process first.

The process is running but there is no sign of Money
anywhere on my screen. I have tried waiting for a long
time. No difference.

I don't mind killing the msmoney process before using
Money but this doesn't seem right.

Is this a known problem? Will it be fixed?

Thanks
Regis
