| Found a copy in the Best Buy in Raleigh, NC. Loaded it up and converted my 2004 data. Process seemed to go ok. Here's some initial impressions... 1. Slower... I kept task manager up and saw 100% CPU quite often. 2004 wasn't a speed deamon, but it was better than 2005 so far. 2. Etrade... apparently, it tried to match up my 2 accounts with those online and failed since 2004 has a bunch of 'X's as the first couple of digits in the account numbers. This caused 2005 to think that the accounts are different. So I ended up with 2 copies of the same account. The help indicated that I could merge them, so I did, but ended up with duplicate transactions which I had to manually fix. 3. The whole program is extremly 'blue'... the basic interface is very similar, but the new theme is baby blue... lots of baby blue! The program now resembles even more than ever Internet Explorer... basically a browser. 4. Default was the essential stuff, but I immediately changed it to the more detailed views which looks mostly like 2004. 5. I like the new 'sidebar' on the home page... lot's of useful stuff there and easier to get to. 6. No ads!!! ;-) I'll play some more and post... I would strongly suggest though that you backup your 2004 or earlier install before installing 2005. Stuff like the account merge issue I hit could cause you problems. Jay |
