Then that filename would lack the transactions your main Money file has. You download, and there are transactions the test file has not seen yet. So with the Ctrl+Shift+<clickConnect> you get lots of "new' transactions. |

Yes I could, and I did that last night after importing my statement I went in and changed the date from 9/16 to 9/15 for the 6 or 7 transactions that were added when I downloaded and accepted my statement. But that means that I have to go to the Fidelity site and manually lookup the transactions for the month and match them to what was entered into MOney and change the dates to match the statement. It seems to me that Money should do that! - quote - > There is one setting here that could, in cases where you have

I went to the Fidelity site and looked at the transactions they have posted there I saw, for instance, transactions dated 9/15/2004 buying shares of several funds. Now, yesterday, 9/16, I went into Money and downloaded the statement from Fidelity. I then went to that account in Money and clicked Read Statement. At that point the dialog box that shows the transactions that were downloaded says, at the top, Transactions dated 09/15/2004 (or words to that effect). That's fine and agrees with what I saw on the Fidelity site. Now I click on Accept transactions and the dialog still says Transactions Dated 09/15/2004. Now I click Finish and the dialog closes and I look at the register for that account and I now see several new transactions in the register and they are dated 09/16/2004 NOT 09/15/2004. When Money actually added the transactions into the register it used the current date (9/16) instead of the transaction date as reported on the Fidelity statement (9/15). Kevin |

| As I stated in my original post. When I go to the Fidelity site and look at the transactions they have posted there I see, for instance, transactions dated 9/15/2004 buying shares of several funds. When Money actually added the transactions into the register it used the current date (9/16) instead of the transaction date as reported on the Fidelity statement (9/15). This isn't a matter of my company not posting the funds to Fidelity. I'm talking about transactions that Fidelity is showing as already having been done and posted to my account. | To veryify your claim, go to the fidelity web site and log in and view what it has to say the dates are. I have found that for the past 28 years my company has submitted my contributions every other friday (every friday for the first 12 years of that period) and fidelity has credited the money to my account the same day! I have had a few times were it showed up a day or two late and in all cases it was because Friday was a bank or exchange holiday and it could not be credited until Monday. Thus I have never seen what you claim. I think your company is getting the money in late. I personally know that my company actually sends the money on Wednesday with a Friday release date. If you send it on Thursday with a Friday release date you will get it in on Friday most of the time but will miss sufficient times so the employee will wonder what has happened. I do not think the problem is in Money, the download, or Fidelity. You could simplify things by changing the date on the transaction> makes a deposit on the last day of the month but it is usually a day or two > later that I download the statement into Money. This causes those last > transactions to have a date of the next month instead of the last of the > previous month. There is one setting here that could, in cases where you have manually pre-entered the transaction, affect the date: Tools-> Options-> OnlineServices-> OverwriteTransactionDatesWithDatesFromDownloadedTr ansactions I set that. If you had not pre-entered a transaction, the setting should not matter. - quote - > Is there any way to tell Money to use the actual transaction date as
I am curious where the problem occurs. Here is a test you can do:> reported by the downloaded statement rather that the current date that I > imported the statement? When you expect a transaction to be available click Internet Updates. Then hold down the Cntl+Shift keys while pressing the Connect button. That will save the transaction info into two files. Where nnnnnnn represents a number, "FidelityInvestments nnnnnnn RQ.txt" is the request info, and "FidelityInvestments nnnnnnn RS.txt" is the response file. Copy the "FidelityInvestments nnnnnnn RS.txt" to a file named "test.xml". Enter the address of test.xml into the Address box of IE6, or in IE6 File-> Open and browse to the test.xml. That will give a nicely formatted view of the file. Nicely formatted is relative. It will still probably look obscure. Find a line that says "<DTTRADE> 20040830070000.000[-4:EDT]</DTTRADE> " except the number will differ. That number in this example says 2004 August 30th at 07:00 EDT. The "<TOTAL> +000000000n.nn</TOTALamount that follows perhaps 8 lines down can help identify which transaction is which if there is more than one. When you find the date for the transaction, you will know what Fidelity is telling Money was the date of the trade. What do you find? |

| I download my 401k statement from Fidelity and I have a question about the transaction dates that Money comes up with. For instance, today I went to the Fidelity site to look at my account balances and transaction history. I see that yesterday (9/15) my company made the latest deposit to the 401k for my contributions and the company match amounts. These funds purchased shares in the funds that I elected. The date on these transactions is 9/15. However, when I go into Money and ask to download the latest statement from Fidelity and I read and import that statement into my Money 401k account the dates on these transactions will be the day that I download the statement, today, 9/16, for instance or tomorrow or whatever day I download and import the statement. This causes a problem at the end of the month because usually the company makes a deposit on the last day of the month but it is usually a day or two later that I download the statement into Money. This causes those last transactions to have a date of the next month instead of the last of the previous month. When I then balance my account with the month end paper statement that I get from Fidelity, Money doesn't see those last transactions as being part of that month's statement and so it adds duplicate transactions with a date of the last day of the month. Now I have to go in and delete the transactions that were imported from the downloaded statement to make the account balance correctly. Is there any way to tell Money to use the actual transaction date as reported by the downloaded statement rather that the current date that I imported the statement? Thanks Kevin Campbell |
