| This is not the same as the normal money update process. When you purchase a download of Money 2005 Premium from the Microsoft Web Site, you "only" download an 8MB program which installs a very basic version of Money. When you launch the program it displays a dialog saying "Additional Money program files are now being downloaded to your computer. While the files are being downloaded, you can continue to use Money and other programs. You will be notified when the download process is complete. When you go to run parts of the program such as budgets or reports, a page saying "Money Update in Progress - This feature is not available until the upgrade is complete" comes up and you can't use it. I've posted in other threads showing the exact URL that is being requested by Money and which is failing. This isn't the same as the normal money update process which in fact does work in this basic version to make requests for stock quotes. | Not having been that route I can't be sure but what I think you are experiencing is one of the Money Updates that everybody gets who goes on-line. If I am right it is nothing to do with buying Money on-line. However IMHO it is far far better to buy a physical media so that when your PC goes belly up/needs rebuilding you have something immediately to hand to reinstall Money. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | I tried the MS Money download from the sight and ended up calling msn to cancel as the download is only part of the program, upon first use it "calls" home to download the rest of the functionality - this did not happen after 6 hours. Will wait for store bought CD version. | I think the 29.95 is not eligible for the rebate. Just a wild guess. -- regards, Michael Abbaticchio MVP for Microsoft Exchange Server http://mvps.org/exchange "Elena" <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1a7f01c49a2b$4be708c0$a501280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > Hi > I want to buy Money 2005 Deluxe so I was shopping around > various online stores... | Hi I want to buy Money 2005 Deluxe so I was shopping around various online stores... I finally came to the Microsoft website to check if they were selling it. I came to this page: http://www.microsoft.com/products/info/list.aspx? view=22&pcid=14db4579-2e42-49ec-870c-5cab747a1508&type=ctg And then here: http://www.microsoft.com/products/info/product.aspx? view=22&pcid=b9b509dc-dde9-41bd-b6e5-96eb87fa5e67&type=ovr On this page it shows Microsoft Money 2005 Deluxe being sold at $29.95 which is the same price listed for the Standard edition. All other online stores are selling 2005 Deluxe for $50+ so my question is... is the price on the Microsoft website an error or is it a different version (I did notice there were different item model numbers from the ones found at other stores). I hate buying something later to find out that there was some big error and I won't be getting what I've bought... so.. has anyone bought the Money 2005 Deluxe direct from Microsoft without any problems? Thanks! |
