Here is something that probably does not apply here, but could be of
interest at some point. When you delete an OFX statement, those
transactions are remembered as having been already read. The
transaction ID is remembered. A subsequent OFX download of the
transaction with the same transaction ID is ignored. I don't think
there would be any similar memory of deleted statements for QIF tho.

That makes me think the next transaction could have been 06/13/2004
and your system was set to DD/MM/YYYY short dates. That does not
seem likely, since I would expect a date error during the download
had that been the case. Plus, you would have had a higher percentage
of problem transactions. So we can reject that as the problem.

Having fewer transactions than what was identified as transactions
to read does not in itself seem strange. With QIF files from an
account from different times, it does not seem strange that there
would be overlap, unless there was a mechanism to limit each file to
non-overlapping dates. But that "nothing after 6/12/2004" thing does
not fit with anything normal to my thinking.

A thing that comes to mind is to make a version of a file that has
only the first line and the transactions that are dated after
6/12/2004. I can't think of what I would expect to occur tho. You
can sort by order of entry or by date (normal). Is your view set to
show all transactions? Just checking.

One thing that could be useful, at least as a troubleshooting
technique, is to import the QIF file as a new or recovered account
(vs statement). That has the effect of turning off the duplicate
elimination checking.

I have not heard of anything like that. Perhaps somebody else has a
theory given the data. The Microsoft people might be able to take
another stab.

OK. I'm thoroughly confused now.

First of all, I did go through my entire system and delete any trace
of a Temp Internet File. I also checked the qif files for duplicates.
Doesn't look like that's the culprit either.

So I followed your instructions below and imported the qif file -- and
it worked fine. All 100 transactions showed up in the register. This
made me think that there was something wrong with my downloade files
(from CapitalOne). But I checked them out and they look fine. The
transactions are in there.

Now I'm very curious, so I delete your statement and went through the
following steps.

I have three files from my cc company, with 86, 55 and 64 transactions
respectively. I import file #1 and get a message saying I have 86
transactions to read, but when I look in the register there are only
50. The last 16 transactions are missing, there's nothing there after
6/12/2004.

Next I import file #2 and am told I now have 141 transactions to read,
but when I look in the register there are still only 50, and nothing
after 6/12/2004. None of #2 are showing up. I do the same thing with
file #3 and am told I have 205 transactions to read, but still only
the original 50 show up in the register.

Now here is where it gets very strange.

I finally import your file. On my account list I'm told I have 305
transactions to read. I open the register and now see 150
transactions, but only 71 of them are from your test statement, and
there are 29 additional transactions from my import file #1. Still not
the full 86 transactions, and no sign of files #2 and #3, but there
are 9 more days worth, now through 6/21/2004. I have no idea what
happened to the other 29 transactions that are now missing from your
test file.

Just for grins I deleted everything and did it all again, with the
exact same results. Have you ever heard of anything like this? I'm
completely baffled.

I went back to think about other areas.
One possibility is that some records match items already in the
register. When you import a QIF file as a statement from your bank,
Money 2004 looks hard for duplicates and will ignore what it things
is a duplicate. That is based upon amount, payee and date data. If
you have identical charges, even in the same QIF file, it considers
them duplicates. :-( For QIF the matching is based on transaction
IDs that the FI puts into the file. That is very reliable within
Money.

I created a test file for a credit card account. (I did not test it
on a non-CC account. It should have 100 transaction records. 10 of
those are payments, and the rest are purchases. If you want to try
this file, I suggest you make a COPY of you Money file and try that.
you can File-> Import into a New or an existing account for testing
purposes.

You can create the file by copying from this posting the sections
between the ===begin=== and the ===end=== lines into a file named
something like MONTESTC.QIF.

You might look at this thread:
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...22&btnG=Search

Deleting that folder helped in at least one case, and the thing that
I think remains after deleting temporary file is cookies.

In IE6 there is File-> ImportAndExport-> Next-> ExportCookies. I tried
exporting mine. I get a crlfcrlf-delimited (doublespaced) text file
that should be editable with a text editor such as Notepad. I
assume, but did not test that I could
File-> ImportAndExport-> Next-> ImportCookies to get them back after
deleting cookies. I assume could delete some and the process would
still work. But I don't know absolutely.

Perhaps first you might try reinstalling Money 2004 to a different
folder/directory. That can cure some things, and it is simple and
safe.

Let us know.

Default Re: Can't import more than 50 records

Well, it's just that 2003 was working pretty well for me. Ever since I
upgraded to 2004 I've been having some nagging problems (this one, and
another issue with Money creating online transactions that I didn't
ask it to create).

I made the 2004-to-2003 comment before searching the group to see
what's involved. After doing that it doesn't really sound like an
option (I have my .m11 backup file, but it's from months ago, and I
really can't afford to lose that much info).

I guess If I can't figure this out I may just completely
uninstall/reinstall 2004 to see if it helps, or wait for Money 2005.

Default Re: Can't import more than 50 records

I've already tried deleting my temporary files, and I did the
QuickFileRepair with no luck. I even tried the Super Salvage utility
and it didn't help.

Would deleting cookies possibly help? I'd hate to delete them all, but
I could certainly go through and get rid of the junk. Are there
specific Money cookies I should delete?

In Internet Explorer delete your browser temporary files with
Tools-> InternetOptions-> DeleteFiles.

Then in Money do File-> RepairMoneyFile-> QuickFileRepair for good
measure.

IE6 Tools-> InternetOptions-> DeleteCookies might be needed too, but
let's hope it doesn't get that far.

What makes you think M03 would solve this? What's you strategy to roll your
M04 data file back to M03?

Default Can't import more than 50 records

I've spent the past few days trying (with no luck) to import my credit
card statement into Money 2004. For some reason, even though Money
says it imported 87 transactions, only 50 new transactions appear in
the account.

I've tried deleting the statement and re-importing. I've tried
importing both ofx and qif statements, and tried importing different
months (I'm a couple months behind). I've repaired my Money file. I've
even archived some older transactions to see if that helped. Nothing
works.

I'm just about ready to uninstall Money 2004 and go back to 2003.

Any suggestions??
