| Ok, I've been having the same issue with Amex after September 17 and the user/pass change. I am on Money 2002 Deluxe on Win2K Pro. I just decided to disable online services for the Amex account and set it up again: 1. Disable online services 2. Close and reopen money 3. Set up Online Services for Amex 4. Set download transaction date to September 17 onward. It works! Money has very smartly merged duplicate transactions, so though I have 155 transactions to check, it shouldn't be that painful. I have transactions all the way up to yesterday. I have been having the same problem with my Datek/Ameritrade accounts as well, but no such problem with Citi or TD Waterhouse. What remains to be seen is if the connection can be made successfully and transactions can be downloaded on an ongoing basis. All indications are that it will. |

| If it makes you feel any better, I am running Windows 2000 and using Money 2003, and I am having the same problem. I can manually download through the Amex web site, but my automatic download through Money will not work. It appears that it stopped working properly about a month ago. | This has nothing to do with the new firewall in SP2. I've turned it off and still have the same problem. I can successfully connect to my other banks with the firewall turned on. I have an always on broadband / LAN connection, so connectivity is not the problem. There is more going on here then just changing our User Names and Passwords to match the American Express Web site signon. Once again Microsoft got caught with their pants down, won't admit there is a problem and leaves us fending for ourselves. I've had enough of Money and will be switching to Quicken. By the way Quicken does not have this problem. "Glyn Simpson, MVP" wrote: - quote - > 12029 is an error which basically says the local machine cannot connect to > the remote one. | Same thing for me. Ever since I changed my User Name and Password to match my American Express Web sign on, I've been unable to connect via Money 2004 Deluxe. American Express informs me that the problem is with Money and Windows XP SP2. Coincidentally, I installed SP2 around the same time, so I don't know which caused the problem. | 12029 is an error which basically says the local machine cannot connect to the remote one. Usually this is caused by a lack of connectivity due to a firewall or something else stopping the connect, or a bad name resolution of the server name, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=248757 is the only specific Money article on this, and there are 7 in the MS KB at http://search.microsoft.com/search/r...a=&qn=&c=3&s=1 I would look at what's changed recently on your system, whether any firewall is blocking the connection in the first place. -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money http://money.mvps.org Check http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny for UK tips and fixes for MS Money. | You might want to try the trick of Logging Calls using the CTRL+SHIFT keys when you click the Connect button. They try the 'Tools to Test OFX Files' to parse the log file contained in this document: http://www.microsoft.com/money/partn...asp#trblshtofx In reality, these tools are intended for your bank's support group to have you use (while they walk you through it over the phone). And you can't do any damage to your installation or Money file, so jump in and try it, and then if you find out what the problem is, tell your bank what you found. |

| Hm. I use USAA and it's working okay. Here are the urls that I have in my copy of Money. Perhaps you can compare them to yours. https://secureofx.bankhost.com/usaa/...1&App_id=Money (Please note that this has wrapped!) You can get to this by looking at your account, then selecting from the left pane: Connect to Bank USAA Services View contact information for USAA Update advanced Web settings This may be different for each version of Money, so let me know if you have problems finding this screen. | After 4 years uninterrupted good service with M2000, I now am unable to download data from bank accounts to the program. Message: "1 item completed. Internet communications error. Please try again. (OFX12029)." Thinking some files were corrupted and causing interference, I uninstalled and re-installed, using my original retail CD. No change. Was advised to try M2004. Installed a 60-day trial version of M2004, set it up, but same result with same message, only slightly differing code: OFXIE12029 The only different procedure involving M2000 was my downloading account data from a newly acquired bank with online (and download feature to MONEY accounts), which was accomplished without incident, and I was immediately able to open MONEY. However, the next day the problem began. MS tech support advises to try this newsgroup before giving up on MONEY altogether and trying QUICKEN instead. I am anxious to resolve this problem because I depend heavily on it to monitor personal, business, and credit card accounts on it. Thanks in advance! Please suggest a probable solution-- I've lost too much hair today over this gremlin that crept into my MONEY. |
