It should, as long as your computer is set to Canadian settings. That is how it knows which way to behave. However 2005 Standard should be out shortly. It should convert your Money 98 Deluxe Canadian files too. There is a 30-day return privilege, but in the past there has not been a downloadable trial of that version. |

| Hello, Maybe someone out there can help me... I have recently had to install a larger hard drive in my laptop computer. When I went to reinstall Microsoft Money 98 Deluxe Canadian Edition (which I had been happily using until then) I found that the CD was unreadable. I tried copying the folder from my old hard drive to the new hard drive but could not get the install repair to work - even though it should have done so without the CDROM (technical issues to follow in case anyone knows how to hack .inf files) Now I went to buy Microsoft Money 2004, but they only have the Standard Canadian version which does not track investments. I then donwloaded Money 2004 Deluxe trial from Microsoft's site but it would not convert the Money 98 files. I have been keeping records since 1997 and I would like to use the data and not start again with a new product. Does anyone have any information? Maybe a copy of Money 98 Deluxe Canadian Ed. still around? (I have a valid licence but Microsoft says that they can't replace my CD). Any other solutions to try and export my qif files for each indivisual account and then import them into another programme like quicken, etc? I can still boot from my old hard drive and export the files using the working version of Money 98. Thanks for any help... Here are the technical details... I copied the installed version of Money 98 from my old laptop. There is a setup.exe file and it says that I can repair the installation without needing the CD. When I try to reinstall the program this way, the computer chokes when trying to find the Internet Explorer files, specifically htmlctrl.exe. When I look in the Money98.inf file for installation I find this section that I shouldn't be needed since I already have IE6 installed: [IESetup] "msie302_exe"= 1,msie302.exe,,,,1997-09-23,,1033,ALWAYS,,,,,,,6521488,,,,4.71.603.0, "amovie_exe"= 1,amovie.exe,,,,1997-09-23,,1033,ALWAYS,,,,,,,1058376,,,,4.70.0.1145, "htmlctrl_exe"= 1,htmlctrl.exe,,,,1997-09-23,,1033,ALWAYS,,,,,,,1080920,,,,4.70.0.1168, When I try to remove this section, the installer also does not like this and it won't complete the installation. When I run Money98 is starts, but then chokes as it says that the installation was not complete. Stephen |
