Default Trouble restoring backup from M 2001 to M 2004

Had the same problem. Here's what I did.

First, as recommended I installed it (again) in a
different folder than before. Then I did the following:

Start / Settings / Control Panel / Administrative Tools /
Computer Management

In Computer Management, click on "Disk Management" in the
tree: Computer Management (Local) / Storage / Disk
Management

Highlight the hard drive letter. Then, from the menu in
Computer Management, click: Action / Rescan disks

Now Money works and I no longer get the missing disk
error message.

Glad your issue is solved and that I could help. Thanks for the feedback.

Post back with any questions as you dig into M04.

Copy the old .MNY file (though you should be able to get there from .MBFs)
and place it in your My Documents folder. Double-click on it. Read and heed
Money's prompts throughout the file upgrade process.

Money files are not "installed into" anything. They are just version
specific data files like .DOC files for Word or .XLS files for Excel.

Default Trouble restoring backup from M 2001 to M 2004

I just migrated from Win98 (old computer) to WinXP (new computer). I
backed up my old Money 2001 and manually installed into the new
computer. I also used Detto's Intellimover to move files. Money 2004
was initialized before all this backing up. When in 2004 and using 2004's
Restore (File/Restore), the back up file was found, but it never was
installed into 2004. What do I have to do to get the data into 2004?
Thanks,
Adam
