On Money 2004, when I configure in Income and Expenses as a> sale appears correctly in the Account view - the > Investment portion is lessened by the amount of the sale, > and the Cash portion increases by the same amount. It > also appears correctly in other places. bar-graph, I get two bars-- Income and Expenses. The type of graph can be changed by right-clicking the graph. Double clicking each bar gives details of what the transactions are. Looking at a Sell I can double-click the transaction and bring up the transaction showing the gross proceeds-- which should differ from the net that was incorporated into the graph. It could be Money 2002 works differently in this case, but seems more likely to me that the shares you sold had been added with an AddShares rather than a Buy. What you would want to do is to modify that transaction where you entered the acquisition of the shares to indicate when you bought and what you paid. That is important if this is for a taxable account. - quote - > But in the Income and Expenses graph on the Home Page,
Modify the transaction. That will bring up all of the transactions for that security. Edit as needed. If the opening transaction is currently an AddShares, you don't know what you paid, and it is a tax-deferred account, you could just change the AddShares to a Buy for the same Total that you sold for. |

| Never mind. Money didn't like the way I'd handled a merger earlier in the stock's life, and that for some reason messed things up. Fixed now. |

But I did sell it for more than I paid for it. Let's say> more than you paid for it? I don't think so. I bought the shares for $500 and sold those shares for $1000. All of the information on the Portfolio screen is correct - the income, the gain, the ROI, annual return, and all. But the Income section of the Income & Expenses graph is showing a -$1000 income for the sale. There is no corresponding +$1000. On the graph, then, it looks like I lost $1,000 last month. This makes no sense, and makes it difficult to do an accurate comparison of Income to Expenses. The same thing happens in the Monthly Income and Expenses Report - even with all categories and all accounts selected, I get a -$1,000 under capital gains. I would have thought I should show a +$500 under capital gains. |

You mean other than by selling the stock for as much or more than> the front page to recognize that a sold stock is not > negative income? you paid for it? I don't think so. You can make a custom report to include pretty much what you want to include, but not on the "Home" page. |

| I entered data into Money 2002 about a stock sale. The sale appears correctly in the Account view - the Investment portion is lessened by the amount of the sale, and the Cash portion increases by the same amount. It also appears correctly in other places. But in the Income and Expenses graph on the Home Page, the amount of the sale is represented as a negative number in the income category - so it looks like I have negative income for the month. It seems not to have picked up on the fact that the amount of the sale was transfered into the Cash portion of the account. Is there some way to get the Income and Expenses graph on the front page to recognize that a sold stock is not negative income? |
