Default Re: CD backup - no balloon pop-up

Hi Annette,

Did you install DirectCD before it stopped working? I think DirectCD takes
over the Recording tab. I think Money is deficient in that if a writable
drive from Explorer is based on a CD/DVD, it won't display it as a choice to
backup (I don't have DirectCD so I can't confirm this). In that case,
disabling DirectCD sounds like it will work but I don't know how important
DirectCD is to you..

Hope that helps...

Hi John,
Thank you for the information. Yes, I'm trying to back
up to my CD drive. I believe it always used to do what
you suggested - backing up Money to a "staging area", I
think it was CD burning - files waiting to be burned to
the CD.
I did what you suggested, but there is no tab call
Recording under my properties. One of the last tabs
listed is "DirectCD5.0Options", but nothing gives me an
option to Enable CD REcording on this drive".
It sounds like you're on the right track with my problem,
but I still don't know how to correct it.

Any other suggestions?
Thanks again!
Annette

Hi Annette,

Are you backing up your money file to the CD device? If Money is setup to
backup to your CD device and your CD device is setup properly, it will write
the file in the staging area where you can record. To see if this is the
case, right click your CD drive from the explorer and select Properties.
Look on the Recording tab (last tab to the right). See if "Enable CD
Recording on this drive" is checked. If it is not, turn this option on and
see if the previous behavior doesn't come back.

Perhaps this is an issue with the properties of the tray icon stuff? Try
taskbar properties to make sure this icon is set to be shown.

Default CD backup - no balloon pop-up

MS Money 2002, Windows XP.

For several years, when exiting MS Money, I select to
make a backup copy. In the past, after Money actually
closes, a pop-up balloon comes out of the task bar,
telling me I have a file waiting to backup to CD. I
would then highlight the file and write it to the CD.
All of a sudden, the pop-up balloon doesn't come on any
more, which makes it more difficult to save it to the
CD. How can I make the balloons automoatically appear
again as a reminder?
