| Thanks for your comments on Deleting Cookies. I always delete Cookies when troubleshooting just to be sure. However, it probably isn't as necessary as deleting the Temporary Internet Files. I use Roboform for storing all my passwords which I LOVE, so deleting passwords isn't a concern for me. I have lowered the amount of disk space TIF can take up to 20mb, so they may help too. I am hoping that MS Money 2005 will be a bit more stable and I'll have less corrupted files. Thanks again. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > In microsoft.public.money, Sharon wrote: > Thanks. > > > So I tried started up in Safe Mode. When I clicked the IE6 Tools-> InternetOptions-> DeleteFiles button in, I was left with only cookies and an icon. I wonder, then, if clicking DeleteCookies in addition to DeleteFiles would have given the same success. You would have to re-enter passwords at various sites, but that is certainly worthwhile to get things going. Earlier it had been suggested that DeleteCookies was potentially needed in some cases, but it seemed that deleting cookies was not necessary when people reported results. I have a theory that having the temporary internet files amount of> downloads came back at that time. > Hopefully, my Money Files will now stay healthy. disk space to use set huge might increase the chance that something could go awry. Plus I have read opinions that setting the number at a more moderate level would actually be faster in many cases. I have the size set to 50MB on one machine and 20MB on the other. Slower connections argue for a larger size, and slower processors argue for a smaller number IMHO. Again, congratulations on your success, and thanks for your post. |

| This post is FYI and a thanks to Cal. My Money file has become corrupt on numerous occasions over the past couple of years. Lately the downloads would be listed on the account list, BUT not in the register. One of the things Cal suggested was for me to delete the Temporay Internet Files from Internet Explorer Options. I did as he suggested, but it did not SEEM to fix the problem. THEN later this past week I started looking at my Temporary Internet Files and discovered they were NOT being deleted by clicking on the delete files button in IE Options. I opened the Temporary Internet Folder and I had thousands of undeleted files. I tried to manually delete them, but some files REFUSED to delete which stopped the whole Delete All Files process. I could not drag them to the trash or right click and delete or move them in any way. Even after restarting my computer. So I tried started up in Safe Mode. They still wouldn't delete, BUT they would move. So I moved them to an empty desktop folder and they deleted the folder. FINALLY they were gone. I opened up my corrupted money files. Many of the downloads came back at that time. Hopefully, my Money Files will now stay healthy. Thanks for your suggestion. Sharon |
