| I went through the same situation, where i took my sole proprietorship and made it an LLC. I tried to take my money file and separate the two, but finally gave in and just started a new QuickBooks file for my LLC and kept Money for my personal finances. Though Money is better and Quicken for personal use (my opinion)...Quickbooks is much better than Money when handling Business Transactions. My recommendation would be to just start fresh (with business transactions perhaps on your next fiscal year) and seperate your Business into Quickbooks and keep your personal finances on Money... just a suggestion. If you want to return to an earlier time with one of your files, perhaps you kept a backup file of the right vintage. Most people don't keep multiple backups, but they would do well to do so. While you are planning, consider your backup policies. USB flash drives are good, and you could rotate them to an offsite location so you have some off-site backup too. Open that LLC.mny file. Now you could use Archive to rid yourself of transactions older than a specified date. If the LLC operations are limited to certain accounts, you might be better to just delete the accounts that do not apply. To handle working with two files, you could create separate shortcuts to each file, and use them to open Money. To switch files, click File. At the bottom is the list of recently-used files to choose from. If you think you want to delete a transaction from one of the files, but are not sure, consider right-clicking on the transaction and selecting Void. That way you can see the transaction, and you can un-void if you change your mind. |

| I am using Money 2004 Small Business. I have a business that was a sole proprietorship for about 2 years. We established an LLC in mid year. Now I am trying to split the file into two separate files to cover the old business and the new LLC separately. I have tried archiving the older portion of the file but, although itlooks like its working, when I open the new file it looks just like the old one. Same accounts, transactions etc. Any tips?
