| Thanks to you both. That takes care of it. Here I thought it was something serious. Guess I have to remember the simple route first. | The Payee pull-down list only lists payees used in the past 12 months. Since this file is more than 12 months old, that's why it's blank. If you enter an existing payee it will use the previously created payee. -Mark "Ed H" <EdH[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news 8C38810-3F86-48BD-B88C-6A437A1EBFAE[at]microsoft.com...- quote - > Didn't have a backup file like I thought. | Didn't have a backup file like I thought. The old money file was last used in April of 2003. When I installed and upgraded to Money 2004, that is the file I imported, and it worked fine back then. I know this much more... I can pull reports by payee and they run correctly, I can pull by any payee in my list. I can also add a new payee and it WILL appear in the pull down list. I can not rename a current payee and make it appear. I suppose if all else fails I can add all new payees and if I remember correctly, there is a way to associate the older payees with the new ones (maybe by renaming to the new name, causing a duplication error). | I vaguely remember something about the list only showing payees used within a certain period of time. How long has it been since you've used the file (since it is a .bak file that is an old version of Money)? Along the same lines, the system date could also affect this. | The only other file (of my own) that I might still have is the .bak version of this file. I had saved my .mny and used that figuring that it was the real thing. I'll try restoring from the backup this evening. I can see all of my payees if I go directly into the lists window to edit payees, groups and categories. When I enter a payee into the register, the auto fill works correctly and fills in a valid payee, they just don't appear when I click the pull down. The funny thing is that all of my categories and groups appear correctly in their pull down list. It's almost like the query behind that combo box isn't working or isn't looking in the right location. Sorry, I use Access a lot at work, so I'm using those terms. | Have you previously archived the file? It doesn't sound like a corruption issue, but more like the payees simply aren't contained in that file. Do you have another file you could try since you say this is a backup? | Just had to re-install Money 2004 Deluxe and open a backup I had saved. Everything seems to be working as it used to except there are no payees in the pull down list in the transaction forms (or when using the pull down when editing in the register). The only item in the pull down list is "Ballance forward". When I open the sample.mny, the pull down list is populated there. I've tried repairing My Money.mny with no luck. The original file had been created in Money 95 (I believe), but it converted properly the first time I installed Money 2004. I'm not using a lot of the features yet, mostly just the basic accounts. Can't figure out if I did something wrong when I opened the copy or if I have left some option unchecked. Thanks in advance for any help... |
