| What Dick is saying is that the check number that is entered after printing comes from the print checks dialog. Any number that you had prior to selecting Print for the number field will be overwritten with the number in the Print Check dialog. Test it out (print on blank paper): 1. Select Print (for any transaction) 2. File Print Checks 3. Note that there is a check number field in this Print Checks dialog: "Number of first check in printer" 4. Enter some number in that field 5. Print 6. Note that the transaction now uses that check number that you entered in step 4. In other words, it does NOT remember the entry you had prior to selecting Print, it simply replaces "Print" with the number entered in the Print Checks dialog. -Mark "Michael Israel" <mbi24[at]spamlessoptonline.net> wrote in message news:_dvWc.25913$Nk4.10142847[at]news4.srv.hcvlny.cv.net... - quote - > Dick, > I am using data that I imported from another program. | Dick, I am using data that I imported from another program. All the data is correct. The last check number is 2000. If I select the record that has check number 1998 to print, I have to go into the check number field on the form and select print. Fine. It prints the check. After leaving the print check dialogue it assigns a number 164. I haven't tried printing a check from a new entry, which probably would do as you say, but I would assume that printing a check, new or old would keep the assigned number. | Money wants to pick the next check number. You never put a number in. Just put in Print. The Print Checks dialog will propose a number which should match the number on the blank check stock you just put in the printer. At least that's how it works here. | I finally figured out how to print checks, but there is a minor problem. I go to the check number and choose "print check". After the check is printed the check number is not the same as it was prior to printing. The program selects another number. I have to remember the check number and manually enter this. What am I doing wrong? |
