Yeah, I that too. I just don't understand why it
wouldn't even apply the file from the floppy.

On your floppy restore, don't restore to the default location.
Instead restore to a place you Browse to.

Well, the funny thing is that I got the same error from
my floppy backup. I don't currently have a USB flash
drive. BTW...the files are NOT "Read Only"....

http://support.microsoft.com/default...43&Product=mny

would be one thing to try -- make sure the file is not read-only.

Another would be to copy the file to a USB flash drive. That should
get rid of the ownership of the file. Change the filename, so that
both versions can exist together. Copy the renamed file to your "My
Documents" folder. Double-left-click the file to open Money with
that copy.

Let us know what does it for you. If you don't succeed at first,
keep trying. For some reason this type of things seems to get
corrected after the first tries. If things don't get going after a
while, check back. There are some other possibilities.

Okay, I searched C: for *.mny, found the file in
C:\Documents and Settings\KenHoll's Profile\My
Documents\My Money
It opened Money, I required
Passport login...got an information dialogue box that
says...

"Money cannot locate 'C:\Documents and
Settings\KenHoll's Profile\My Documents\My Money', or
cannot open it, possibly because it is a read-only file
or you do not have the permission to change it. If you
have chosen the correct file and it cannot be accessed,
you will need to click OK and open your most recent
backup file."
I want to save that data if I can...

Start-> Search your hard drive for *.mny. When you find your old
file, open Money with that file by double-left-clicking the icon for
the file.

C:/Documents etc is where Money stores the .mny file all things being equal.

You don't want to restore. Navigate to where your .mny file lives and double
click on the file name. Money will fire up and remember where it found the
..mny file for future reference.

Default Windows upgrade/Reload Money

I upgraded from Windows ME to XP. In doing so I had an
issue with Money 2003, so I reloaded it from CD. I then
got "Install was unsuccessful" a couple of times, so I
completely uninstalled it, then reloaded it.

Now, of course, it is a blank template. I tried
to "Restore from backup". It acted like it was updating
fine, but then gave an error that "Money can't find
C:/Documents and Settings/etc, etc"

My files were never stored there, and I don't understand
why it is looking there. I can't figure out how to
redirect it. Can anyone help? Thanks....
