| I used to work for Intuit. I'll tell you, the product is very buggy and will drive you nuts. Started with Money in 1995, switched to Quicken in 1999, switched back to Money in 2003. | Forgot to mention Quicken doesn't appear to allow to hide reconciled transactions in any accounts. That is a big negative in my opinion. I set Money to only show unreconciled transactions. | Well so far no fireworks. Bad: Importing Money to Quicken was a nightmare. Quicken put most of my accounts in what they call the "Cash Flow" area which is equal to "Bank Accounts" in Money's Account list area. About 1/4 of the homepage is covered with a list similar to the "Account List" area with accounts organized into "Cash Flow, Investing Center, Assets and Liabilities. I haven't found a way to turn this off yet, in fact, it doesn't look like the homepage is customizable at all. Upcoming bills and transfers are listed on the homepage too, and by the way, scheduled transactions don't import, so I spent lots of time finding ways to account for home and car refinances that messed with loan terms. Screens are very busy, including one step access to signing up for Quicken's Visa card and other Intuit offerings. Good: I really like the way Quicken handles investing. The info provided was a little more lively than Money's setup. Their asset allocation advise was very good and fund asset classes were customizable (Money offers that too if you look around). Their asset allocation includes "International Stocks" something Money lacks. Quicken's charts and graphs are a little more eye pleasing in my opinion. They are integrated into various screens very nicely. Although I haven't used all of its options, I can tell Quicken is a good product. I see no compelling reason to switch from Money to Quicken and vise versa. Unless you are totally unhappy stick with what you currently use. Odds are you've solved many problems, one at a time, trying to get your software to do you bidding. When you switch, you find all those problems again, but this time you don't have the luxury of working thru each at your leisure. Money 2004 Deluxe 4 of 5 stars Quicken 2005 Deluxe 4 of 5 stars Switching from one to another 1 of 5 stars. |

| I had used Quicken since version 1.0 for Windows. I switched to Money in 2003, and have found a lot more productivity with it. It is also a heck of a lot more stable and less buggy than Quicken was at the point in time that I switched over. -- regards, Michael Abbaticchio MVP for Exchange Server http://exchange.mvps.org "Bart" <bart[at]nospam.com> wrote in message news:rHdWc.40240$Yl.25960[at]okepread07... - quote - > I'm a long time user of Money (since 1997) currently using Money 2004 > Deluxe. | i have been using Money 2004 Deluxe and got a new computer with quicken loaded...I thought like you I would give it a try but it seems really confusing to me as far as categories and such go.....maybe because I am just an old hat at money now. | I'm a long time user of Money (since 1997) currently using Money 2004 Deluxe. I started using Money mainly because it was preloaded on my first Compaq computer, but I just purchased Quicken 2005 Deluxe. After the $30 Circuit City gift card special this week and $20 quicken rebate I figure getting an attempt at using Quicken would never be cheaper. I'll let you know how it goes. Nothing against Money but I have to check out the green grass on the other side of the fence. |
