You are on the right track. However what you want is separated> to track our sons' money and not have Money lump their > accounts in with OUR assets? So in Windows Explorer (shortcut: <windowsKey> +E) Copy the existing file and paste it. Rename the copy at least. Then create your shortcuts to the .mny files. Within the files set the backup file names to be unique with Tools-> Options-> Backup. You don't want to both be backing up to the same filename. I suggest you also get a USB flash disk, and set the "floppy" backups to that device. Another alternative to starting with the same file is to create a whole new file for son's finances. Do that with File-> New-> NewFile. - quote - > it just > mindlessly renames the new work "My Money". | Help! Is there a way to use Money 2003 Standard Edition to track our sons' money and not have Money lump their accounts in with OUR assets? Our boys each make about $1700/year on their newspaper routes, and we have directed about half of that into Roth IRAs. I tried renaming "My Money.mbf" as "Dads Money.mbf", starting anew with a son's info, then renaming that file "Sons Money.mbf". I thought I could then make a shortcut to each file and open Money by double-clicking on Dads Money or Sons Money, depending which I wanted; but it won't SAVE my work as Dads Money or Sons Money, it just mindlessly renames the new work "My Money". Am I missing something, do I need Money Deluxe, or is this just impossible with this product? |
