That's disappointing, if it's true. M04's comparison listing on MS's
money home pages does NOT show 'no-charge' MSN bill pay, but it was
clearly part of the deluxe and premium versions of '04 (and a good deal,
I thought).

If it is true that M05 doesn't include this, then I think M04 will be a
bargain when it gets in 'price reduced' mode, ex.: Buy M04 premium for
say $29, send in $20 rebate, and you essentially have two years of MSN
Bill Pay for $9, which after signing up, I believe you can simply use
with M05.

Re: 'no-charge' comment above: I choose those words carefully here, I'd
definitely not say 'free' or 'complimentary', as I believe the greater
incremental cost of the '04 Deluxe and Premium versions was just
'pre-paying' for MSN Bill Pay -- one year and two years worth,
respectively.

Interesting stuff. Things I note and/or wonder about:

- This release was a more significant development than M98. Hmmmm. M98
certainly wasn't the smoothest release ever and it was essentially
redesigned from the ground up. I'm struggling, after having read everything
that's been referenced here about M05, to figure out what they did that was
so large a development. The only fundamental database change I detected was
that splits are, apparently, now a transaction type. The rest of it sounds
like bolt-on UI stuff. Time will tell. I'm certainly curious.

- Money and MSN Money share the same Portfolio Manager. What's that really
mean? Just some Active X control downloaded (MSN) or locally installed
(Money)? Money needs to link to MSN to accomplish useful work?

- Multi-user access = [using] the same Microsoft Money file from different
locations without sharing passwords? Does this just mean Sync with the web
supports multiple Passports can have access to the same data? Or does it
mean that the local data file is finally multi-user safe for home networking
and XP Fast User Switching and so on without regard to the web? (The latter
**would** be a big change internally--but I can't read that into the
information provided.)

- Consumers can purchase and download a licensed copy of Money online. And
then they can loose the download and/or the key and come here begging for
help. Great. Please, just go buy the CD!

- Money Deluxe = Money Standard plus "free" year of Expirian? Money Premium
= Money Deluxe plus one year Money magazine, GainsKeeper, H&R Block? So, the
core Money product is the same in all three versions? If so, I'm sure glad I
didn't yet order Deluxe.

The reviewer's guide and fact sheet links work now, though the
Portfolio Manager link is still incorrect.

When visiting the following page:

several links are not correct. The portfolio manager view is not
linked
correctly and the links to the reviewers guide pdf and factsheet doc
don't work. Thanks.

possible :-)

Although I would suspect the guide illustrates the changes and new stuff so
reviewers know what to focus on.

I'd be interested in reading it myself !

So, basically, MS writes the review and the 'reviewer' just edits to make it
sound like they wrote it?
