| Go to the payees & categories section, select 'preferred payee names'. Go to the payee rules manager and you should be able to delete them from there. -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money Check http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny for UK tips and fixes for MS Money. We have some ATM withdrawals labeled as "ATM Withdr" and some as "ATM Withdrawal." What I would like to do is make all new transactions currently downloaded as "ATM Withdr" and have them re-labeled as "ATM Withdrawal." However, if I set "ATM Withdrawal" as the preferred payee name, it will not let me set "ATM Withdr" as the "old" payee name, because it is already in use as a preferred payee name. Money's built in Help on this problem is predictably useless. Do I have to manually change the name of every "ATM Withdr" to "ATM Withdrawal" before it will let me set the program to change the name to the new preferred name automatically?
I would select a "ATM Withdr" transaction in the PreferredPayeeNamesand click Move. This will let you combine "ATM Withdr" and "ATM Withdrawal". |

| Thanks for your help. What I am actually trying now is, rather than excluding the term, renaming it to a better name (i.e., "ATM Withdrawal"). Thanks again. In Money 2004, checkAccounts&Bills-> Categories&Payees-> Payees-> PreferredPayeeNames and determine what "Payee Name Variation" is being turned into that Payee. Then Go to the PayeeRulesManage and enter that term (such as "Cash withdrawal") into the Excluded Names. |

| We are using Microsoft Money 2004. For some reason, when we download our transactions from our bank, Microsoft Money mislabels our ATM withdrawals, referring to them consistently as a payment to another party. Somehow, the program has decided that this is the automatic match for ATM withdrawals. We are of course able to fix each mislabeled transaction manually; this is, however, very cumbersome. Is there a way to fix this mistake? Thanks. DJ |
