That varies with version. If you enter the Call as a stock, enter 1
contract as quantity 100. To sell to open, enter a Sell Short.

With a newer version, if you define the security as an Option, enter
a Sell to Open transaction, and enter a 100 share contract as
quantity 1.

Default RE: Entering calls/puts (options)

As I do many options this was msft dumb answer to my question as to why the
the last price and cost are the same even though you sell the puts and calls
at different prices

As you noticed, the calculation of Cost Basis for Sell to Open options has
been changed in this new version.

At this time, I would like to share with you my understanding of this
design. When we record a Sell to Open activity, we sell this option and will
Buy to Close this option at a later time. Since we actually do not purchase
this option at this time, Money cannot accurately track the cost basis for
this option. In order to calculate Gain, Money assumes we will buy to close
this option under current option price and calculates the Cost Basis = Last
Price * Quantity. Through that, we can see how the cost basis and Gain is if
we buy to close this option at this time.

I understand this result may not in the way you expected. I will forward
your comments to our Product Group. At the same time, I recommend that you
send your wish on this issue to our Feedback department at
<http://support.microsoft.com/support/feedback/> . This will let our
developers know what you would like to see in Portfolio.

Default Entering calls/puts (options)

I want to enter transactions involving covered calls. If
you follow the steps outlined in Money Help, track puts
and calls, Money will display a dialog box stating the
following: "Adding this Sell or Remove Shares activity
will cause the balance of shares of '<name of call/put> '
held in this Investment Account to become negative at
some point. Please arrange your transactions to avoid
this." The only option is to press the OK button. The
problem seems to be that Money treats calls/puts the same
as stocks. I would be grateful for any help on this issue.
