If the ending balance is does not match reality, expect that there are missing and/or duplicate transactions. Most probable is that your bank only provides the statements for a limited time, and you may have had the account longer than that. In that case you would commonly add an additional compensating transaction dated before the oldest downloaded transaction. Alternatively, you would adjust the starting balance for the account. - quote - > Since this is a bank statement downloaded in 'Money' with

What am I doing wrong? transaction that you ever did in that account, you will want to look at other things. But an initial balance or compensating entry is commonly needed to get going. |

| Hello, I have purchased Microsoft Money 2004 (Canada) and ever since I've started to use it I have only downloaded my bank statements directly into money ( no manual transaction entered). My electronic bank statement shows me a balance which 'Money' displays accurately in the left corner pane in the account transaction register. However, the amount shown as an ending balance is always, always wrong. Since this is a bank statement downloaded in 'Money' with no other transaction entered, why do these figure not reconcile? I have tried reconciling the account within Money to no avail. I have used the program help, bought a book and still cant get by bloody e-account to reconcile with Money. I went so far as de-installing Money and deleting my money file and start from scratch and it still wont work. What am I doing wrong? I look forward to your help. Bert |
