A handy way to find symbols that are no longer good is to configure> about my problem. > Money 2004 stopped downloading quotes for the largest file I have of three > on the computer. > The big file is REALLY big so I'll go back to check the symbols because I > have a ton in there for expired and no lomger active options. in the LastUpdated column with ChangePortfolioView-> CustomizeCurrentView-> PortfolioColumns. Group by No Headers. Click on the LastUpdated column header to sort by that column. Note securities that have a symbol but do not have a recent update. Now the reason could be the Portfolio-> UpdatePrices-> PickQuotesToDownload is not set for that stock. But it may well be an obsolete symbol. Correct or blank such symbols. Another way to troubleshoot is to clear most of the Portfolio-> UpdatePrices-> PickQuotesToDownload items. If the few remaining ones (which you should be sure of) work, set more until you find you have a problem. That way is less good in that things may work fine with one or more bad symbols sometimes, but work much more reliably if there are not bad symbols. |

| I am so happy I FINALLY found to someplace where I could talk to somebody about my problem. Money 2004 stopped downloading quotes for the largest file I have of three on the computer. The big file is REALLY big so I'll go back to check the symbols because I have a ton in there for expired and no lomger active options. If this dousn't do the trick I will be at my wits end. | It is frustrating--I am having the same problem--three of my mny files will update stock prices online, the 4th (and biggest file) will not. I think Dick may be right because I have a lot of 'old' stock symbols in my transaction history. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > My educated **guess** is that you have a bad symbol defined for an > investment. | My educated **guess** is that you have a bad symbol defined for an investment. I'd one-by-one check the symbols for all of the investments--including watch investments--defined in that file from the msn.com web site to confirm it can get quotes for them. | Thanks Dick, I have more info now. I run 5 separate *.mny files. Only one of these has stopped downloading price updates. I tried file salvage, followed by level 1 and 2 salv.exe folowed by another file salvage on the misbehaving file with no success. It still won't download price updates and the other four files will. What now? | I'll assume you meant you purchased M04 in Sep03 and only got quotes with this version until Nov03. There is probably something else going on with networking or firewall setup or what not. M quotes have been less than 100% available/reliable for some time now. See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=75 for some (maybe irrelevant) info from a prior time when quotes were being flakey. | My price updates stopped in Nov03. I upgraded to M2004 Deluxe [purchased the CD] in Sep04. I've been running M since 1998 with frequent upgrades. I understand from previous posts on this forum that Microsoft now time limits the price updates. But -- why did I only get 3 month's worth? -- Mike mloy[at]citadelenterprises.com |
