Strange, because I was able to get my M04 Deluxe file to load in the
trial edition that I downloaded from MS's web site as indicated in the
article link I posted.

I'm assuming that you haven't actually run out of your trial period, so
how about just starting a new data file and switching to your data file
after that?

How about trying to double-clicking your money file instead of opening
it in Money or the other way around...

just things to try.

ps: Why do you have the word trial in quotes?

Jerz,

I'm in the same boat.

I was told that Money 2004 has a 30 return policy. So if Money 2005 comes
out within 30 days of your purchasing 2004, you can exchange '04 for '05. I
think most retailers will honor this exchange even if the software has been
opened, but I'm not positive.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Ken

Well, well .... Perhaps before casting stones you should get the whole
story.... First off I HAVE been buying MS Money EVERY year for the upgrade
and have 2000, 2001 and 2002 on CD. Beginning in 2003 I bought and
downloaded the program and in 2004 I couldn't remember if I bought the cd
and lost it or downloaded the program and lost the file. I bought 2003
server to learn tried doing a dual boot but ran into problems so abandoned
the dual boot and reinstalled 2003 by itself so I STILL actually have the
old hard drive with the fully functional 2004 version. Prior to using MS
MONEY I used QUICKEN FOR SEVERAL YEARS and yes you have to be an idiot to
not be able to figure out the two so as far as a learning curve I would say
that would be very negligible.

I'm not sure the point of your post but maybe it wasn't directed at me but
since my post is below I would only have to guess that it was. I've paid
for Money 2004 ONCE already and don't feel that I should pay for it again
and in order to pay my bills once again without switching out hard drives
each time I have to do something. Quicken is new and out there already and
I would definatley prefer to buy something NEW that I didn't actually have
then to pay for something outdated and that I already paid for.

Cheers!

Actually, you (or at least I) can only see the very first
page of your money stuff with a dialog box in the middle
telling you that your "trial" version is expired. Once
you click OK Money shuts down.

OR... you MIGHT be able to find a cheaper version of 2004 on eBay. Not
sure, but I imagine many people know 2005 is coming and may be unloading
2004 in anticipation. Seems to be sellingfor less than $20 on most
auctions...

Default Money 2004 - 2005

I'm in a similar jam myself.

I had some trouble with Money 2003 so thought that I'd
save myself by downloading Money 2004 trial edition to use
until 2005 came out. Unfortunately the trial version will
expire in three days and it seems like I've got a month to
wait until 2005.

Seems like my options are:

1. buy 2004, and then be annoyed when 05 comes out unless
i can somehow upgrade for free.

2. buy quicken 05 - but the 04 trial software says
quicken won't be able to acces the trial software entries,
so i'd have to reenter the last two months.

3. live with no money access for a month.

any suggestions?

Default Money 2004 - 2005

Has anone tried converting from Money 2004 to Quicken
2005? OK that may be taboo here but it is definately a
feasible alternate for me since MS is leaving me out in
the cold. I mean heck I've been using Money online with
2004 they *should* know what version I'm registered for it
really should not be this difficult to move a registered
program from windows xp to windows 2003. Or I guess it
would be cool to fire up a VM in 2003 and have it mirror
my old version of xp on the other hd, that would be way
cool but probably not very realistic.

Yes. It will work with your Deluxe file. Some features will not be
available, but the more important ones will be.

Well, I tried installing the "Trial" software and it works
until I load my 2004 data file and I'm told that I need to
purchase 2004 because my "trial" version has expired.

Any other suggestions?

Default Money 2004 - 2005

I'm in a bit of a jam since I can't find my downloaded
file or cd. I actually don't remember if I downloaded it
the last time or bought the cd but in any case I can no
longer find either.

Is there a site where I can at least *try* and sign in to
see if the site remembers my purchase? OR is there
somewhere that I can dowload 2004 today with a free
upgrade to 2005 next month? I don't mind buying 2004
again if I can get the free upgrade because ..it sure is a
pain to have to reboot the computer into a different OS
just to pay some bills especially when I have to switch
out the hard drive to do it. OR Alternatively, if I had
the deluxe version before if I bought the standard version
would my deluxe 2004 file work in it? At least I'd be
saving 20bux

Preesh!
