| I am still having the same reported problem of the failure of downloading the new chart toolbox reported by others. I have tried to follow the below procedure by uninstalling the toolbox and then reinstalling, with virus and firewall disabled, but no luck. Is there a solution to this problem that I have missed? | I still have problems, however, I got 2 replies from Microsoft: (I can't find the 1st message but it said to do the following) The first reply said to go to Money -> Tools -> Options -Connections and check --leave my Internet connection open after downloading Internet Information. also check Alway use my default browser to browse the Internet. I was using Mozilla firefox and had to change back to Internet Explorer. the 2nd message was as follows: Dear Thomas, Thank you for using Web Support. My name is Samuel, and I'll be assisting you with your case today. To give the most accurate support possible, I would like to give a brief summary of the problem as I understand it: You are prompted to install MSN Money Investment Toolbox every time you try to access the Portfolio Manager. If I have misunderstood the issue, don't hesitate to let me know. According to my research, this issue can occur if we have previously installed the beta version of the Investment Toolbox on the computer. I apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. At this stage, I suggest we manually remove the beta version from the computer and then re- install the Investment Toolbox: 1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs 2. Click on MSN Money Investment Toolbox and then click the Change/Remove button. After the Investment Toolbox is successfully removed, let's try the steps below to re-install it: Note: Please make sure that Microsoft Money (the CD Product) is closed. Also, if there are any security programs such as a firewall/anti-virus program running in the background, please temporarily turn them off. 1. Open Internet Explorer and visit the following link: http://www.moneycentral.msn.com/cabs/webinst.exe 2. Open the downloaded webinst.exe file on your computer and then the Investment Toolbox will be automatically installed. 3. Click the Finish button after the installation is complete. 4. Visit: http://www.moneycentral.msn.com/inve...rols/portpromo ..asp 5. Click the link "Download MSN Money Investment Toolbox". 6. Click "I See the Chart" when you see it. Please try these steps and let me know the results. If you encounter any problems when trying the above suggestions, please feel free to let me know. It is my pleasure to be of assistance. I am looking forward to your reply. | I have had exact problem. I contacted Money suuport folks and they were aware of the problem which is apparently with MSN Money upgrade. I have heard nothing back from MS Money support re the resolution to the problem - quote - > -----Original Message----- > My charts on securities in my porfolio recently (around > the beginning of August) reverted to the simple charts > you see when you first install Money. Do you know if they will ever implement the old style browsing (within Money)? I don't even know if they're aware of the problem. That would probably depend on how many ppl opened support cases. As Money 2003 Deluxe and all versions of Money 2004 are still within their lifespan for online services, I would imagine that MS/MSN will have to fix it at some point. Although I've seen a few complaints from Money users in the moneycentral newsgroup, most of the complaints seem to be coming from ppl that had used MSN's Deluxe Portfolio Manager for years. -- Scott Tyler agent_scotty-at-hotmail-dot-com |

| My charts on securities in my porfolio recently (around the beginning of August) reverted to the simple charts you see when you first install Money. I got the option to install the MSN Money Investment toolbox. If you click on this, the program closes and an install box comes up, along with an MSIE window which recieves an error that the remote server is not found. The install box seems to run normally, and comes up with a "Finish" button after the progress bar fills. However when I restart Money, it looks as if nothing has changed with the charts (I still get the option to install the toolbox.) I uninstalled the toolbox from the control panel, and tried to install again, with identical results. Anyone else have this problem? Please reply to my e-mail address above as well as to this thread. Thanks, jw |
