The one in the box won't be. Updates and fixes, if created, are normally
sent down using 'smartconnect'.

Whether MS would honor it if you submitted it is the most important
question. The deal Sam's (and Costco?) had in 2003/2003 was the best. Good
price. Relatively painless rebate, as rebates go.

Art,

Maybe this year won't be different. I didn't mean to imply that
vendors won't offer their own rebates. I have no info as to whether
they will or won't. The MS coupon will still be "available". Whether
one submits it or not is another question entirely.

True, but MS DOES release updates with the internetdownloads (if you so
choose). OTOH, I have yet to notice serious bugs between day 1 and day 180
and I use the program pretty extensively. Either I don't know enough about
finances to notice (always possible) or many bugs are the result of "user
errors" (i.e. dirty systems, lackof security, unsigned drivers, etc). I
personally believe that about 90% of all problems with a program can be
tracked to a problem w/ the user's computer, not the software. I'm willing
to bet that if everyone w/ trouble reformatted and reinstalled their system
(basic) and then installed Money, it's work like a champ. Of course, this
is COMPLETELY unreasonable so it falls on MS to do a better job of testing
(a responsbility that they seem to take lightly).

Anyway, just my thoughts. I'd say go ahead and buy it and enjoy it for 3
more months. OTOH, sometimes waiting gets you a better price

2 years agho when I bought at COSTCO the package had a sticker saying
that the Microsoft rebate coupon would not apply. The box did not have a
coupon inside. The Costco rebate was similar but separate and was
redemmed by COSTCO not MS. It was cheaper to buy at Costco. Obviously
each year is different.

The rebate form shown on Amazon is the one which will be included in
the M05 package. It will be available regardless of your point of
purchase and is valid in the USA, PR, APO/FPO until 9/15/2005.

For several years until last year, the M sold at Sam's was a different SKU
with a rebate exclusively through Sam's. Last year, the Money they were
selling was no different that the one sold at amazon and had almost the same
price, besides.

just use the internet to upload investment data once a week. If something on
the hard copy CD which I use with my personal computer has a bug in it, like
say a part of the budget , then that will still be there until Money 2006 comes
out. Steve"SJCOHEN730" <sjcohen730[at]aol.com> wrote in message

Costco has long switched to managing their own rebate - typically this would
mean a special Costco stricker on the Money box with their terms; the
checkout receipt will have a special section that becomes your rebate
coupon, and you can enter the rebate request online.

I believe that they do fixes all the time with the money uploads. Is that
not true.
And I am talking about critical bugs--those that are not compatible with one
approved driver or another on the standard MS operating systems, which cause
one part or other of the program to malfunction. There are always bugs in
any new release which need to be addressed. The initial buyers are in the
final scheme the Beta testers.

It doesn't work that way. You will be able to read the complaints and stories
about the bugs BUT unless it is a critical issue, no update to the program can
be expected until Money 2006. Steve

I have never used the on-line facilities or on-line portfolio with M2004 so
haven't experienced problems. I suspect that this will also be true of
M2005.
