| Hi Michael, I am not Mark but I have exactly the same problem as Mark on 2 of my 3 investment accounts. So, since I see nothing more on this thread here, I'll answer your question to Mark. No I found no matching transaction in the cash account. (I searched for it using the "account transactions" report.) Anything else? Thanks in advance Regis - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Mark, > Does the amount of the discrepancy correspond to any single transaction in > the cash transaction register? > -- > Michael Gordon > MVP > "Mark" <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:166101c47bc2$0fd314a0$a401280a[at]phx.gbl... > > Michael, > > > On the portfolio screen of investments each account shows > > the securities invested in and the cash balance in the > > Investment account. | I have this same problem with an Investment account and the corresponding Cash Account: the 'Ending Cash Balance' shown in the Investment account is different from the balance of the Cash account. They should be identical. I thought it must be a rogue transaction. After deleting *all* the transactions I know it isn't! So I now have an account with no transactions (and a $0 opening balance) and a $0 cash balance but a positive balance in the Investment account. I think this happened because I had my checking account setup with some transfers into the cash account before I downloaded all the transactions from my broker. The fake balance on the investment account is the total of these initial transfers. Anyone know how to fix this, preferably without deleting the accounts? I don't want to have to delete every transaction if this happens again. (I already tried repairing using the 'msmoney -s' option) Ian "Michael Gordon, MVP" <gordonm[at]denison.edu> wrote in message news:<#6G94h8eEHA.3732[at]TK2MSFTNGP11.phx.gbl> ... - quote - > Mark, > Does the amount of the discrepancy correspond to any single transaction in > the cash transaction register? > -- > Michael Gordon |

| Michael, On the portfolio screen of investments each account shows the securities invested in and the cash balance in the Investment account. For each investment account there is an investment transaction register and a cash transaction register (if you choose to track cash transactions). On the Investment Transactions register on the bottom of the register it gives the Ending Cash Balance (bottom left) and the Market Value of the investment account (bottom right)these figures correspond to what is on the portfolio screen. The Cash Transaction register shows the cash transactions (buy, sell, checks written, transfers, deposits, etc...) that have occured in the Investment Account, it also has a running balance for the Cash Balance of the investment account. In a perfect world the cash balance in the Cash transaction register, the Ending Cash Balance in the Investment Transactions register(bottom left) and the Cash Balance showing up on the Portfolio for the Investment account should all equal. My problem is they don't. The Cash Balance in the Cash Transaction register does not equal the Ending cash balance in the Investment Transactions register and the Cash balance on the Portfolio (however, the portfolio and Investment transaction cash balances do equal). The cash balance in the Cash Transaction Register is the correct balance, it ties with the bank and bank statement, the balance on the other screens is incorrect. Hopefully you can help. Hopefully this helps Michael. If it doesn't you can call me at work at 312-592-5331 to discuss. | I have a balancing problem. The ending cash balance on the Investment Transactions register and the Cash Transactions register for the same investment account does match. The balance in the Cash Transactions register matches the bank statement. The cash balance that shows up in the portfolio for this Investment account is the balance on the Investment transactions register. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix? I have run the quick file repair and the standard file repair and neither worked. You help would be appreciated. Mark |
