| Well I see the MVPs as those who are knowledgable about the product and have helped countless newsgroup users resolve their problems. I could slap MVP beside my name cause I know the product and have posted a few times but I wouldn't cause I don't think I deserve such a title as others are more deserving. Dick Watson should be considered the Uber-MVP (along with Cal and a few others) thanks to his countless posting and upkeep of the Unofficial Money FAQ but he doesn't advertise this fact. If you get countless emails from people seeking help, encourage them to post on this newsgroup and you can reply to them here so that the masses can benefit from your knowledge. Then possibly the title of MVP can be used judiciously by yourself. I don't think they are threatened by self-proclaimed MVPs, it's just there is a heirarchal structure in place that seems to be working very well. I don't think posting a few times a year is deserving of MVP status and many times people give out the wrong advice. MVPs are here to point us in the right direction and have done so for some time and they do so with countless hours of their time. Being an MVP is a privelage that is rightly bestowed upon those who deserve it. There is nothing wrong with that. | Ion, I appreciate your support. I guess you have to have helped enough people to warrant MVP. Sometimes helping just one person should be enough. They can't count the emails I've received that aren't poste here. Analogies aside, if M$ has a set of rules, they should communicate them better, and, if the official MVP's feel that the club is threatened by self-proclaimed MVP's, then that is a whole other issue I don't have time or money to assist with. | If your computer will not run anything but 2000 and 2001, then no, there is no reason for you to upgrade. It is unlikely that MS will retroactively bring older systems into the fold (thankfully). If you feel you should be awarded with regards to the bugs you filed, I would recommend contacting the beta lead and asking them about the MVP Program (admittedly, they may not be able to answer it, but they would be the best first step.)
