If they don't provide it, you might not want to pay it. (This is just my opinion - I am not a lawyer.) http://www.JudgmentBuy.com |

First determine whether this call was on the level or a scam. To> the Viriginia dept of taxation money for taxes unpaid for 2005. Ask him/her if there is any balance due. If there is, ask for documentation. If there isn't, report the call to the agent and forget it. Have you contacted the State of Virginia? This may (or may not) be a scam. I> the Viriginia dept of taxation money for taxes unpaid for 2005. | Hi all, I need some advice. I just got a letter from a debt collection company saying that I owe the Viriginia dept of taxation money for taxes unpaid for 2005. The letter is dated Sept 25th but I only received it on Nov 8th. I looked up my records and found that I paid my taxes and owe them nothing. I tried to tell them this but they insist that I need to pay them immediately or they'll begin collection proceedings against me. I offered to fax them the documents but they want the money NOW. I don't see why I should pay when I don't owe them anything. I requested for more time so that I can send them the docs and the matter can be amicably resolved but they just are not ready to wait. If I refuse to pay and they initiate collection proceedings against me, I'm afraid it might hurt my credit. How do I resolve this? Thanks, Sashi |
