When people feel they have to waste time and space and give
a whole post to correct themselves for obvious, common
little post-os like this, lest some Post-O Cop try to
improve their weak egos and correct them, it's pretty sad.
Next thing one knows you will post that the period above was
supposed to go inside the quotation marks. I know your time
is more valuable than this.

Yikes, let me correct myself. I know the difference between "they are"
and "their".

Because people who know their in poor health are less likely to
purchase annuities, annuitants tend to live longer on average than
other people of the same age. A paper discussing this effect in the UK
annuity market is

Google "RP 2000 Life Tables"

Pretty easy, huh?

Default Life Expectancy table?

Can someone provide a pointer (specific URL) for the 2000
Individual Annuitant Mortality Table, aka the RP 2000 Life
Tables, provided by the Society of Actuaries?

I could not find it at www.soa.org.

Apparently, this table is different from the Period Life Table
provided by the SSA at
http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/STATS/table4c6.html#fn1 .
By "different", I mean more than just the year (2003 v. 2000).
In http://escholarship.bc.edu/cgi/viewc...irement_papers
,
the authors wrote: "We chose the Annuity 2000 table over
others, like those published by the Social Security Administration,
because our focus is on the individual annuity market".

PS: Can anyone explain why their forcus would make a
difference? I would think that life expectancy is life
expectancy, regardless of "focus" at least for the same
population.
