I have also read numerous studies that suggest we run an ever increasing trade deficit because or economy is evolving into a service based economy. It is hard to outsource occupations like Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers, DHR case workers, CPAs, Chefs, Writers, etc, etc. As more people turn to service based jobs we import more of our mfg goods. A service based economy enjoys higher average wages and fewer employment problems. Look at the nation's employment history of steel workers, motorcity auto workers, and farmers to name a few. |

It does not look like that the US treasury is going to increase the benchmark interest rates anytime soon. So I'm asking what do you all think about the dollar decline ?? ======================================= MODERATOR'S COMMENT: Posters to this thread should relate comments to general financial planning. |

But if you are talking about a large sum of money you may want to talk to several institutions with large european presence. As to whether the dollar is "going away for good" or not, that's a whole different question (which you didn't ask). One may just think that the US dollar is at the bottom right now and it's a good time to buy dollar. |
