Traditionaly, when a nursing home transfers a paying patient to MEDICAID (maybe you were refering to medicare), for which they (the facility) receive a much lower daily rate, the service that they provide is of a lessor quality. | IF I am understanding your question correctly, you are asking what happens to a person in an A/L/F, when they run out of money. Whenever that happens, they will be eligible for MEDICAID Assistance, and transferred to a MEDICAID Bed............ That may or may not be in the same facility. Obviously the care will not be the same............................ | If one is in an assisted living facility and self paying, then after the 5 year look-back period runs out of money and is not ready for a nursing home, who then pays for the assisted living to continue? If the person is ready for a nursing home, Medicaid would pay, I am told. Thanks |
